kushner also forwarded. the senators also requested kushner's correspondence with former national security adviser mike flynn. abbe lowell, kushner's lawyer says they were responsive to all requests. "we provided the judiciary committee with all relevant documents that had to do with mr. kushner's calls, contacts, or meetings with russians during the campaign and transition which was the request." and tonight politico reports, quote, special counsel robert mueller's team is preparing to interview the woman who has seen it all, communications director hope hicks. the report adds that mueller's decision to request an interview with hicks, who hasn't been named in any criminal wrongdoing, also indicates he has reached a critical point in the overall investigation, according to former prosecutors. that was a lot, but we had to lay out the parameters here. still with us, ken vogel, annie carney, and mieke eoyang. on hope hicks, who as far as i can tell is somewhere between selig and clark clifford, 29 years old,

but what we see with kushner, kushner is a focus of mueller's investigation in all much these areas that talking about. remember that kushner was running around the world during the transition and during parts of the campaign looking for money, foreign money, russian money, money where he could find it to try and get himself out of a bad financial position. mueller is looking at all of this. he's trying to put all -- i'm not saying that this information comes from people in the mueller investigation, but reporters know a good bit at this point from piecing, from various sources together what the broad outlines of what mueller is looking at. and it is all three of these areas, and he's very far along in terms of what we saw this week and yet we only know this much. >> right. and the thing to add to that is don junior gives a speak back in 08 where he is asked about the financing of their properties, and he said essentially we don't get money from u.s. banks. we get them from rich russians. and so they have a financial relationship with the russians that go back a long way, notwithstanding

i think jared kushner came to like him. i think that when jared kushner became sort of the person in charge of the foreign policy portfolio during the transition, kind of the man to see, i think he and flynn intersected quite often, whether it was dealing with the russians or whether it was dealing with any other kind of foreign nationals who wanted to come and meet with the incoming administration. so it would -- and their schedules intersected in the white house, as well. so it would make a lot of sense that if the special counsel is preparing a case against flynn, they want to make sure that what they -- the information that they have, is not contradicted by what jared kushner knows. clearly they don't want to be surprised by anything. so it made an awful lot of sense when we were learning this today that they would want to talk to kushner about this. >> maybe kushner has information -- maybe that could exonerate flynn. they just wanted to make sure of the information. >> exactly. what is does this mean then? is this ove

jared kushner's lawyer said that kushner's response to this e-mail was, quote, pass on this. a lot of people come claiming to carry messages, very few we're able to verify, for now i think we decline such meetings. so kushner declines it but then somehow and it's not clear how this same alexander torsion tells bloomberg news he has dinner with donald trump jr. on the sidelines of the national rifle association convention in may 2016 and congressional investigators trying to figure out what was said, what was the nature of it. and the reason kushner's under fire is because he failed to disclose that this overture was made and made the way to him and investigators are asking questions about why he and his lawyers failed to turn over the documents, lawrence. >> let's remember the collusion under investigation, the possible collusion is a two-way street. the trump campaign colluding with russian government and anything indicates a willingness on the russian side to engage in this kind of activity is evidence that would enter into that theory. i want to read "the new york times" r

was having contact with wikileaks, that kushner knew about it.he reason that wikileaks is so significant is because they are the organization that released the stolen clinton e-mails. the dirt, i am convinced that ron goldstone was talking about was those clinton e-mails that were stolen. and i think as a prosecutor my theory is very simple, goldstone or somebody else brought those e-mails to that meeting on june 9th. the donald trump campaign realized these were too hot to handle. they had to be released through another source and that source was wikileaks. and if you look at what we know now, over the course of time after that meeting, two weeks later roger stone has contact with guccifer 2.0, the russian hacker, and then wikileaks, and then we know that during that campaign there was an ongoing campaign between donald jr. and wikileaks. and the -- in response to that, he was actually going out there, sending out a url so people could look at those e-mails. >> right. >> donald sr. was talking about those e-mails and, you know, what we're seeing

i'm wondering is kushner expected to fully cooperate this time? >> reporter: jared kushner is asked to provide some new documentation to senate investigators. this has been an ongoing problem for him. investigators have impm come ba him said we need more documents and you need to provide transcripts related to this investigation. kushner's attorneys say he has been cooperative and forthcoming and he has provided information that relate to his own contacts with russia and with any other actors that are related to the investigation. if congressional investigators are looking for something they don't have, it's because they didn't necessarily ask for it. i think we can examine that in the coming days you'll see kushner's attorney providing information they asked for partly because his attorneys say the more that they give investigators at the beginning the more it vindicates their client. so i think we expect them to actually do that when the deadline approaches tomorrow. >> on another controversy, former representative barney frank pushed back on th

kushner would be among a list of people who investigators would be asking. we should mention a lawyer for kushner declined to comment. >> let me bring in gloria and brooke, what are your biggest takeaways from this report? >> i think it's important to understand that the obstruction investigation does not -- is not limited just to the president. it is -- it could involve the conspiracy, therefore, anyone around the president influencing his decision, could be part of that investigation. gloria. >> and i think going to this question of obstruction, i think we have two major areas that from our reporting, one is the firing of comey, and jared kushner wassed a b ed sed a bed when the president made the decision, again, there are different stories about whether he was involved at all, some people say no, some people say he drove the decision. we don't know the answer to that. and then a false statement that was amended multiple times and jared was on the airplane there. i think it's natural as kushner's lawyers say that he would -- questions would be being asked

could this amount to perjury for kushner? >> well, i think, you know, in and of itself it's going to be -- it can be a challenge because he's going to say i didn't remember that, i forgot that e-mail, et cetera, and i think what juliette was saying is, you know, the question is how much -- how many lies were there? what evidence does, for example, mueller have that he had this in his mind earlier. so let me give you an example. let's say that there's a lot of e-mail traffic about these direct messages. let's say he was on 100 e-mails about it, or there was recent e-mails discussing how much of a problem this could be if there was an investigation. then i could see there being a charge. if this was a one off e-mail that happened back during the campaign and nothing else came of it, it'll be harder to do. because your viewers should know that the federal prosecutors have to prove that you knowingly and willingly made a false statement and that's why it's harder to prove that someone told the lie to congress. >> so josh, preside

they asked kushner about michael flynn. according to two sources familiar with the meeting. joining us is pamela brown, part of the team that broke this story, and legal analyst, jeffrey toobin. so, pam, what did mueller's team discuss with jared kushner according to sources. >> we're told that the interview primer focused on former national security adviser michael flynn, that he was the dominant part of the conversation that lasted less than 90 minutes in this case. it happened earlier this month this sit-down. even though this was a situation, a discussion that focused primer on michael flynn, it's worth noting that jared kushner could be called back, anderson. he could go back in front of special counsel to answer other questions about other topics. michael flynn is the subject of the russia probe, and that there are reporting that he could reach a plea deal, so it would make sense that the team would speak to kushner about flynn. but he could be called back. we'll have to wait and see what happens. >> this meeting didn

>> well, look, jared kushner is a complicated case. i wrote a book on the trump administration and all the people he put into these positions and as i talk to a lot of the people around the administration and congress who looked at this and journalists and others, what you come away with is the notion that jared kushner's power has always extended from -- directly from donald trump, no place else. he was not brought in because he was super competent or because he had all sorts of great connections around the world. he is trump's son-in-law. and as he becomes a problem for trump, and there's just the bottom line, these revelations, what we're hearing is problematic, i think you will see a distancing. i discount all this talk about general kelly having a big role here. the fact of the matter is that jared kushner has always been sort of on a short leash with donald trump. donald trump likes to send him places to make appearances, be, you see very little evidence of jared kushner really influencing this administration from the inside. now

jared kushner is back under the microscope of senate investigators tonight. let's get to pamela brown. what are you learning about what robert mueller's team is looking for from the trump campaign? >> we learned he has issued a subpoena to the trump campaign expanding search terms for documents related to the russia investigation according to a source who told this to my colleague. and the source describes it as a cleanup subpoena to basically cover more documents beyond what the campaign has already handed over which were the same documents it handed over to congress and the subpoena is so wide ranging the source said it could take months to respond to this but for context mueller has issued lots of subpoenas so this isn't necessarily unusual or unexpected. however, we are told the white house has not received a similar subpoena. >> also tonight jared kushner is again accused of with holding potentially significant documents from congressional investigators. what are lawmakers looking for? >> the senate judiciary committee released a laundry list of document

kushner was not against it. the white house said based on what we know, we don't know how they would know this, that kushner is not a target of the investigation. but this is a sign that mueller could be building a case for obstruction against the president and perhaps others for the firing of the former fbi director. >> they say kushner is not a target here. consider the source there. very important. shimon, overall, how significant is this? >> reporter: this points to the fact that the mueller team is now asking questions about kushner and others. and it's reaching into the president's inner circle. the investigation has extended beyond the campaign to actions taken at the white house by high level officials. the white house officials say mueller's team questions are not a surprise and kushner would be among the list of people who investigate issors naturally would be asking about. a lawyer for kushner did not comment. and we should add the white house declined to comment. >> thank you very much for all of tha

kushner's attorney also hitting back, accusing lawmakers of playing gotcha while arguing that kushner been transparent during his six hours of voluntary testimony. garrett tenney live at the white house with more. what more do we know about these e-mails the committee is requesting? >> reporter: well, the committee has requested thousands of e-mails from a number of individuals associated with the trump campaign as part of their investigation into russia's interference in our election. in the top two lawmakers on this committee, senators chuck grassily and dianne feinstein, are now accusing jared kushner of not providing them all of the e-mails they've requested. they claim they've received other e-mails, but that he never provided including one from donald trump jr. about his contact with wikileaks. kushner's attorney argues these aren't missing documents because the committee obviously already had them from others and that kushner never replied to these supposedly missing e-mails. he added: mr. kushner had no contacts with that organization and was, along with others, forwarded an e

kushner. so kushner now has about a week to turn the rest of those documents in. kushner's attorney says there's flatout no documents. arthel: another story that many will be watching, eric. eric: new allegations against alabama candidate roy moore this as he is fighting back against fame lawyer gloria allred, refusal to release year book that one has autograph. the book with moore's signature is evidence of one of sexual misconduct allegations against him. peter doocy live in birmingham, alabama continuing the situation, hi, peter. peter: this rec center had 150 potential voters for doug jones, fish fry a few hours ago, leading roy moore in fox news poll and he laughed when i asked him to respond to charges that he's an ultra-liberal that's just like obama. kushner's own contacts. here with more on that story is jenna mclaughlin, intelligence reporter with foreign policy magazine. what's the significance of the fact that the contacts with wikileaks were forwarded to campaign folks including jared kushner? >> well, i mean, the significance of that is jared kushner saw them. he was aware of them and passed them onto hope hicks. we see with kushner he's selective with his words. he may be saying, oh, i didn't communicate, i was just aware of it and possibly forwarded it on. >> now, there's a really key part of this, which is that your reporting suggests that during his capitol hill testimony, he was actually asked about contacts with wikileaks, is that correct? >> yes, that's correct. and in several different sessions, he denied that he or anyone else in the campaign had had any contact with wikileaks or julian assange. >> okay, so i just want to be clear on that, so he repeatedly before congress, and i don't know if ever under oath or not, but before congress rep

so in some sense, good news for kushner, bad news for flynn. are trying to do is solidify all the evidence they can gather with respect to flynn, sos if f there is a flooe plea deal ongoing, they know the strength of their case and they can play for the hardest deal they can get-to-in order to get cooperation from flynn if they feel he has cooperation to zblif what is the time line if this meeting took place weeks ago? >> it would depend on how it progresses. normally the lawyers come in and say we'd like to talk to you about a deal. then mueller is going to say we want a proffer. what is your client can tell us? what is he willing to plead guilty to? what is he looking for with respect to third parties, particularly his son? so these things take a while, then they have to take flynn's testimony and determine whether they credit it. so this is a multi-week process, normally speaking. >> since the contact was cut off with the trump folks right before thanksgiving, we're right after thanksgiving, this doesn't necessarily mean if there's a deal it

what is jared kushner's lane, julian?> well, in recent weeks, the lane has been israeli, palestinian peace talks, for example. or the other lane he has been involved in is innovation and technology in government programs. the question is if he still has more informal role, given he is a family member, in advising the president and directing the president, even if formally his position has diminished. so there is a way of looking at this that steven bannon is gone. he formally, jared kushner, removed himself but he still has the ear of the president. but his formal lanes have narrowed. >> how likely is it, do you think, joey, that kushner is going to be called to testify in front of mueller? >> i think it's very likely. i think that, you know, certainly he has been involved just thoroughly in all issues and all phases of the campaign. certainly he has specific knowledge as to what occurred. he knows the principles. he knows the parties. he has been involved since the very beginning. obviously, he shares a special relations
