we have meteorologist kyla grogan here with more on the storm. ivan neighbor she's like it's so windy. i keep thinking there's an earthquake here in marin county rate. that's where your house is. well, right now, they're under severe thunderstorm warning. this isn't usually don't get this a lot in the bay area, but we haven't right now. they just actually upped it till 3 o'clock. >> because of the cell that's rolling a click this now kind of show you where the storm is and you can see where those heavier heavier showers are rolling in right now with incredible wind as well. and the problem here when you get a severe thunderstorm warning, it means you're getting a thunderstorm. this potential of creating a little bit of rotation and that can get very dangerous. very quickly. so to kind of look at this here, you can see that all of this energy is pushing right in right along that line that you see that's going through san francisco heading into marin county and then heading towards the north and the east. and this is wind and this is rain. and if y

meteorologist kyla grogan has what's in store for tomorrow. but we're going to begin with charles clifford, whose live along the russian river where swift water rescues have been taking place. we'll start with charles. >> well, good afternoon. yeah. the north bay is getting a chance to dry out today. a kind of assess the damage. it you know, clean up. but also they are preparing for more storms ahead. across the north bay on wednesday, the rain has let up but lingering flooding is still causing problems along the russian river. >> the sonoma county sheriff's office says that they have spent the morning responding to multiple calls for service, mostly from people trapped by the high water. >> this is our 5th call or our swift water rescue teams training vehicle water where they needed arson since to get in guerneville these apartments on the north side of town are flooded, making it hard for neighbors to enter an exit, their homes along river road. the water's up to the doors at these apartments. residents here were using a raft to move around

we're going to check in now with meteorologist kyla grogan for details on past. yeah, we've got a nice but i want to take a second talk about what's happening here in the country. an arctic blast to these are actual temperatures. >> not wind chills. so think that through here. when i tell you it's -6 in rapid city. but even if you go down to dallas, texas, 39 degrees. 25 in boston, 14 in chicago, incredibly cold air in place. as you take your ally over here, you can see as well. the sierra is still in some of that cold. in fact, 30's had been kind of the norm for tahoe today. so this is the departure from normal. obviously, you can see just how incredibly cold this is and what a good portion of the country it is affecting with ar -20 to 25 degrees from normal. we are in a much better situation here. but look, what happens kind of fascinating is that you see this and then watch how quickly it goes away. that is thursday by friday. you're starting to see temperatures roll into above average territory in places like denver, colorado, where they have been, you know,

let's find out when exactly with kyla grogan. yeah. there is an upside to that rain. that's for sure. and listen, i appreciate at least we're little dry so that we can kind of take a breath and get ready for this because we do have quite a bit of rain expected right now. pretty calm here on the embarcadero. all be at cloudy as we anticipate this coming in. now. notice, though, the wind, south lee, a southerly south lee. wow, it is monday. southerly 61 degrees in san francisco. and you know, that is an indication of that system that's coming our way. so the next 5 days we are once again facing the prospect of 2 to 3 inches of rain as we go through the week. and then after that, we finally do get a break. but you can see what i'm talking about this week. we're going to have showers rolling in later this afternoon. heavy rain throughout the entire bay area as we get to tuesday wednesday. we catch a break thursday. we've got more showers and then friday will kind of start to work our way out of it as the system goes away and then we get a pretty decent weekend. so here is

let's get the latest right now with our meteorologist kyla grogan. yeah. summit taking a lot half moon bay where normally we set a very calm bay that is here take you right back here and check out all of the waves and the white caps that are on them. an indication of the wind that is rolling through here right now. in fact, they've had gusts today that were in the 45 to 50 mile per hour range. you can see across the entire bay we've been dealing with a lot of wind as we go throughout today. we'll notice it will pull back as we get into the evening and then by tomorrow morning we will wrap that up. we are under wind advisory has been lifted for the north bay and for san francisco. but for the rest of the peninsula, south bay, east bay. and also as you can see along the delta, they're still under this wind advisory through about 11:00pm tonight. and so we still have that concern of this wind. it's that kind of thing we walk outside in the rain comes down and then you take a step forward and it comes at you because of the wind just kind of adds insult to inju

kron 4 meteorologist kyla grogan is standing by in the weather center. but we begin with kron four's dan kerman. he's live in guerneville where the russian river flooded. >> leaving people there was significant damage. dan? >> well, let me tell you something you would think at this point this might lead up, but it does not look like it's letting up. we've had, you know, pockets of 20 minutes of no rain, then another pocket of 20 minutes of no rain and then the skies just opened up and it is coming down like it's the first time anybody's seen rain. you can see the river behind me is still flowing. see the bridge back there. the thing with this next set of rain that we're seeing right now is people's houses have already been flooded from the rain we've gotten over the last few days. we ran into somebody who's already starting to clean up, even though the skies are still opening up with the rain. >> rain started coming pretty heavy and we had about 4 days of about an inch a day. and that's all it takes all the sudden the river started rising. linden sean br

. >> crawford's meteorologist kyla grogan joining us now in the studio. hey, kyla. hey there. so we are starting to see some of the clouds are going move in tonight. and that nation that we do have it. it is chance of a shower in the early morning hours tomorrow. but right now, not bad roads are dry. no problems out there for you. >> wind is relatively calm. logan picking up here at half moon bay out at the coast now to about 17 miles per hour. so that's a little breezy temperature wise. we've been mostly in the 60's today. few 50's out there. now as we start to pull back a bit. but we did get up to mid 60's in a few spots and pretty comfortable out there. right temperatures about where we should be this time of year. now when we get into the evening because that cloud cover is going to be picking up. there is a nice kind of bonus for that. and that is that the cloud cover does keep us little warmer in the overnight hours. so notice temperatures in the overnight tonight low to upper 40's. not that you're not seeing any of those freezing temperatures, you know, low 30's or anyt

kron four's meteorologist kyla grogan here with details.es, let's talk about the rain that will coming our way this week. obviously tonight, looking good here as we take a live look outside. no rain to worry about. >> just a really nice evening on tap. but once we get into wednesday, you can see we have a marginal >> risk. it's just a very marginal risk meeting just a little bit of a chance for some excessive rain. but then we get into thursday and it's much more widespread and it ups the chance a little bit. what that means is a kind of zeros in on what we need to look out for. and when which is to say we've got some heavy rain coming our way now. it's not tonight. it's not tomorrow. you're gonna wake up tomorrow with some clouds clouds will thicken up throughout the day, but we'll get home ok by about 11 o'clock at night. then we'll start to see a few light showers come in. i'm not terribly concerned about this. this one interest may because it's cold air and you can see that we start to see a little snow flying there on hamilton will see

kron 4 meteorologist kyla grogan standing by on the kron. 4 weather center. but let's begin with kron four's lezla gooden. she's live in pacifica with more on how people along the coast are preparing less. >> yes, so we've been out here all afternoon. it was pretty calm. we saw a lot of people just casually walking, but just in the last 30 minutes or so, if you can hear the waves, they got him pretty intense and we can expect them to get even more intense as the storm moves in and take a look at this video that we captured earlier. now we're able to talk to a couple people who are just out on the pier to see how they were getting ready now on wednesday, pacific up, we caught their public works department prepping the roads to place and on them. they tell us that the water does sometimes go over this railing. and some residents tell us they received this text message from santa cruz county warning them that the atmospheric river will be moving in wednesday night with gusts winds of 60 miles per hour. but this storm didn't stop some people from coming to the >>

meteorologist kyla grogan has details on our forecast. i sure do. and will day we had with the rain. start with the fact that we have record-setting rain kind of incredible, really was a daily record and san francisco, those broken. >> that was set in 18 87. we took on 2.8, 9 inches of rain. by the way, not the only record out there. look at some of these totals and you can see 2 more records. napa and santa rosa hit daily records. but then take a look at canfield over 5 inches of rain. we got over, you know, almost 4 and a half in sandra fell. oakland took on 1.6, 6 inches. you can see over an inch in san jose and then obviously those record setting numbers in napa and santa rosa. well, over 2 inches as well. so happy to say that we are dry today. and san francisco, everyone getting around without having to worry about this. but it's not far from mind when we do have a flood watch out for tomorrow. and you could see in and around the russian river. we're still under that flood warning. now we did have it also with the creeks in the north bay. and s

meteorologist kyla grogan here. not the details. yeah, that's right. so up where there is a elevation, right? you don't have a lot of friction. so you get the wind really ramping up and it's indication of what's about to come down to the surface. and this is the mount tam cam now. and you can see it is not very pleasant up there at all. that wind is gusting, but we're also starting to get some gusts down the surface here to notice half moon bay, but to give a those coastal areas now gusting up to about 36 miles per hour. as we roll through the afternoon and the evening that wind will continue to be a part of this story as the system comes in. and in fact, we're gonna be under a wind advisory starting at 3 o'clock. today's expecting those gusts to be up to about 45 miles per hour. so you can see it's along the coast and also as we head towards the delta. but notice that it will also be in san francisco. so that means our bridges. you're going to be feeling that if you're heading across them, particularly and any high profile vehicles are low pressure he

meteorologist kyla grogan here now with details on the forecast.es, about to get a bigger bath as we head into the next 24 hours. everybody. we are under a flood watch. starting at 4 o'clock today and that goes through wednesday morning. but actually in the north bay, we're under a flood advisory right now because we are anticipating with any additional rain given all the rain got this weekend, we could get into trouble. some of our creeks and streams. so we're talking about areas from about windsor. great in santa rosa down to rohnert park. and you know where those usual suspects are. those creeks and streams that rise quickly. so we are waiting for this next big system. it is the next big push in the atmospheric river. that is coming our way. this will be 2 out of 3. we got one this weekend to war this week. and this next one is the bigger one. currently 60 degrees in san francisco. wind out of the south. 26 miles per hour. so we're seeing that wind really kick up and over the next 5 days, unfortunately, you can see how spots up in the north bay

our meteorologist kyla grogan here now details. we got a lot of rain yesterday. he got so much rain yesterday, in fact, are setting records yesterday. daily records. san francisco is one of them. 2.8, 9 inches of rain that beat a daily record all the way back to 18 87. but by the way, not the only record the here. a couple of i looked up. >> napa and santa rosa, which both got around 2.8 inches. those are records for the day and then look at cannes film, not a record, but an incredible amount of rain. 5.3, 6 inches. sandra fell just under 4 and a half. and you can see oakland and san jose there inch and a half for oakland. little bit over that. and san jose just over an inch. what a day. what a day. and now today we have the nice dry ground here at the embarcadero in san francisco. and i think everyone myself included appreciates it today. we do have a flood watch. that is up for marin and sonoma counties. and you can see that and that is for the rain. it's gonna be coming in tomorrow. we are under the flood warning in and around that russian river area and also

kyla grogan in the weather center with details on this storm today. yeah, just another danger today. a high surf warning. the cut there, too. so we just have one thing on top of the other. this is where the flood advisories, all the area, basically entire bay area. >> and then you can see the warnings are around some of our creeks and streams in the north bay and also in the east bay. we've got some in alameda creek as well. so we are kind of in the middle of this. this where the last impose kind of rushed through. and that's what this will be now has different impulses. so as much as i'd like to say, we're wrapped up, we're just not quite there yet. you can see some heavier showers just recently moved out of the north bay. now catching a little bit of a break. some light showers there, a few heavier downpours in and around santa rosa. the peninsula now just some light showers as well. same story in the east bay. so we're kind of getting a breath right now. but i do not think this will be the end of it. unfortunately, we have lots of wind out there. y

the chicken now with kron 4 meteorologist kyla grogan. yeah.ust not a fun place to be right now between the rain and the wind. and you can see this year live at the san mateo bridge, people having to slow it down because we just can't go fast. we've got this kind of weather out there. that's for sure. so. >> if you can't stay put, that's probably a great idea for the next couple of hours. you can see the sustained winds here in san francisco. 32 miles per hour. meaning gusts are even higher than that. if you're going across any of our bridges at you're going to feel that especially if you're in a high-profile vehicle that's just are going feel that when the were so this system bringing rain to the entire state of california, including southern california, where there is some concern for those burn scar areas that don't have education, that they could see some land flight activity. and we've actually seen quite a bit of rock slide mudslide, little small things that are happening. but it's all happening around the bay right now as we get into the

meteorologist kyla grogan here tracking the storm for us. yes of the year. severe thunderstorm warnings. we don't get those a lot right. but we're getting them this afternoon and you can see where it is. so we ritually we're just looking. >> at parts of marin county and the north bay. now it has moved down to san francisco south san francisco and the latest from the national weather service. has this going until 03:30pm. and you can see why here as a kind of put this into motion and you start to see all of these thunderstorm cells that are rolling through. so we had a slight chance of this. it has come together. and what that means is we've got rain and wind and it is very dangerous. so if you can stay where you are and don't head out into this. that would be the best bet. and just wait for to kind of get through right? because it will in the next couple of hours. so here we are taking a live look and you can see where some of these heavier rainfall rates are, where those darker oranges are. and some of them, you know, falling 1.3, 4 inches per hour in some

let's check in with what's going on outside right now with kyla grogan. hi there. yeah, we're getting some clearing out there. this is san jose and you could still see a few of those clouds as well as you look towards the right side of your screen. and we have had a few showers that are out there, particularly over the santa cruz mountains in parts of the south bay today. but the sun is coming. if you haven't seen it yet, it's on its way. we're getting some clearing as we get later into the afternoon. a chilly start to our saturday, but a nice weekend on tap. we stay dry and we should have some nice sunshine. but here are the showers that are kind of working their way out to. so if you still out there and as we zoom out here, you can see your i goes to the north bay. we're now we're starting to see a few pop ups there as well. and remember in the north bay in and around santa rosa, we do have some of our creeks and streams that are very high. stills were under flood advisory until midnight tonight for that area. so any extra rain? here's definitely not welcome. unf

but first, we'll go over to our meteorologist kyla grogan for a look at the sunny day today. yeah, that's right. sunny, in most spots so that you can see as we head to the south bay. still some clouds there. we did have some showers rolling in over the santa cruz mountains, but i'm happy to say >> that as we get into our afternoon today, we're going to see more clearing for everyone to if you haven't really seen it yet. it's on the way saturday will be a very chilly start. but a nice day and sunday, also staying dry and looking good. but let's talk about those showers that are still kind of rolling in here over the last couple of hours. not a lot of them, and they certainly calmed down. but we had a few coming in over. as i mentioned, the santa cruz mountains affecting the peninsula, the south bay. and then you can see up in the north bay. we are still under that flood advisory and that does have to do with all the creeks and streams there that still have to kind of come back down. and so that does go until midnight tonight. so that is one area that we're still keeping an eye

meteorologist kyla grogan here with details. yeah, that's right. gorgeous. another gorgeous day and i wanted to start with how high the temperatures got yesterday because >> we made it into the 70's. i thought we would. and we did 73 in santa rosa. you can see low 70's in sandra fell of redwood city, upper 60's there in napa, san jose about 66 in san francisco. 64 degrees yesterday and look at this right now. san francisco sitting at 64 at this hour. notice we've gotten into the 70's in san carlos. we're at 71 in sunnyvale. 72 now in fremont. so the south bay kind of waiting the race, but we're not far behind in our inland east bay and north bay spots either. so, you know, senator is right now topping out about 69 de rees. wind has been pretty calm a little bit of a breeze going on out of half moon bay. but that's about it about 15 miles per hour and stormtracker showing you the any action is staying. well to the north of us today that has everything to do with that high pressure that is building in off the coast. that's what's going to keep the skies nice a

. >> but we begin with meteorologist kyla grogan. >> i it's been quite a day. it had been drive in the media they're my friends who are reporters to hey, it's not an easy one. these showers have just been rolling across the bay area. >> and what's been a big component of this is wind. so not only is that rain coming down, but that wind is just whipping out there. want to talk about totals. ben lowman, santa cruz mountains over 5 inches of rain. you can see over 3 and a half and can feel the north bay east bay bringing those totals to 2.7 to in dublin, oakland, one of the gauges there just under 2 and a half inches. you can see ffo about 2 inches in san jose. a little over an inch and a quarter. so it really has been a fully-involved storm for everyone notice that we've got the sierra snow that is rolling right now, too. there's been hail. there's been snow. there's been wind. it's been a wild day as we zoom in here. the good news is that we are seeing most for the most part, lighter showers at this hour. and that has been helpful as we kind of take a look at ex

there's a lot going on and it's >> kind of looking like something's coming our kyla grogan in the weather center with details yet the couple something's coming our way. that's for sure. getting breezy here in san francisco. let's take a look at what's happening in tahoe. nice and calm here as we take a live look at diamond peak. but it's very chilly there today. you can see the temperature here just drop below freezing. we really haven't gotten out of the low 30's today. they've got wind out of the south. so pretty calm other than that. but if you take a look at the snow that's gonna be coming. not just by the way for us, but for the central sierra and the southern syria as well, where they really need to pick up some additional snow totals because they haven't gotten as much as we've gotten here in the northern sierra. but this is going to be to 4 feet at the peak. so it's going to be another big system for the state and just to kind of show you how this plays out for the snow. obviously tonight, staying quiet for the sierra few snowflakes, maybe about hamilton. that's about it for us he

let's see what's happening in the weather department with meteorologist kyla grogan. hey, there were getting ready for some rain a little bit tonight and then a whole lot wednesday night into thursday. even friday morning. right now. you can see, though, just the clouds out there. we're getting a little breezy in san francisco. temperatures have been kept cool. we started off with some of those low 30's again in parts of the north bay and the east bay. and now you can see temperatures just kind of hanging out about 50 to 55 degrees. and that is it's obviously we are below average once again, you start to see little moisture off shore here. clouds of enrolling in. we're going to start to see that pushing in as we get later into our evening hours. and as you zoom out again, you can start to see it's already coming together. not exactly as far as rain is concerned, but certainly the moisture is there breezy, as i mentioned it, san francisco. 22 miles per hour right now that sustained winds of those gusts are even higher than that. so that's another component of this. let

let's see what meteorologist kyla grogan has to stay as we kick off the workweek. yeah.en chilly to start the day. we had some folks got into the low 30's this morning. happy to say we've rebounded a bit here. you see the sunshine as we take a live look. >> at the golden gate bridge and temperatures right now in san francisco about 54 degrees. wind out of the east just 10 miles per hour. so just a little bit of a breeze there. >> and as we look across the rest of the bay, certainly we started off chilly, but now we're starting to get up there at 60 degrees in sunnyvale. already kind of jumped up a little bit. 51 in oakland you can see about 50 in petaluma. so we are off to a pretty decent day today with the sunshine out there. temperatures will be around where they should be this time of year. but boy, this was the start in livermore. 31 degrees, the freezing mark in santa rosa and napa. and you can see 30's. there are many other spots, oakland airport, even 37 degrees. and as got down to 40. so another chilly night on tap tonight. we'll talk about that in a second. but

meteorologist kyla grogan saying by details on our forecast. yeah.talked about that right when it came to fruition. so there you go. >> little cold air in place will do that when you get this kind of moisture rolling in right now, let's talk about the snow that's going to be hitting tahoe. nothing happening there right now. pretty quiet. everything is calm. they too, are kind of dealing with the calm before the storm. temps in the 30's, though. so certainly still some of that cold air in place right now. and we've got winter storm warnings that are up not just for the sierra, but you can see those shasta county mountains as well to the north of us. but this one is going to be the big snow maker, not just for here and tahoe, but also throughout this year, the central sierra and also southern sierras that to pick up quite a bit of snow. this go into effect at 10 o'clock tonight until friday at 10 o'clock. heavy snow, 2 to 4 feet up at the crest. but even down at the lake surface are looking for 10 to 20 inches. so the rain starts rolling in tonight in

let's check in now with kyla grogan for more yellow to blue skies out there. it's a nice temperatures. i wanted to start with just a look at what's happening across the country right now because the jet stream he's taken that dive to the south and look at some of these temperatures right now. it's 30 degrees in dallas and you can see in nashville is 23 degrees. 30 degrees from dc up to boston. and keep in mind, this is the heat of the day and that doesn't even consider places that yes, do get cold in february. but rapid city, south dakota, 12 degrees right now, even as we head a little farther to the west salt lake city's it. 34 so we are quite lucky that we are dealing with nicer temperatures today. you can see here if we look at departure from normal these areas in the darker blues, that's 15 to 20 degrees below average in the good news for them is that we are going to see this changeover as we get to the weekend by saturday and sunday. you can see we're actually going to be going in some spots 15 to 20 degrees above average. so we are quite lucky to have th

but first, we're gonna kick things off with proffers meteorologist kyla grogan tracking the weather headed our way. >> hi there. and yes, up at mount tam here. you can see behind me tell you the wind that is getting going up in elevation. some of it working its way down to the surface. you can see right now we're sitting about 27 mile per hour gusts in san francisco. 37, as you head out to half moon bay, are you? >> head up to the day they're also in the 30's as we go throughout our evening. that will be part of this system as it rolls in. it is a southerly flow and you are going to notice it if you're driving across any of those bridges, it probably right now. but certainly as we get into the evening under a wind advisory that goes until 01:00am in the overnight hours of tuesday morning. so those gusts expected to be potentially up to 45 miles per hour. make sure you secure everything around your home as the system moves in. it is an atmospheric river. round 2. here we go. the rain starting right now to roll into the north bay. you can see some of those showers mostly light right now, but

really great out there from this shot to let's see where the rain is right now with meteorologist kyla grogan. hey there. yeah. for the rain still going across the bay area that you can see. we have lightened up a bit. but boy, talk about some impressive totals. take a lookaat this. santa cruz mountains, ben lowman clocking in over 5.1 inches of rain can field in the north bay. 3.6, 3 double in in the east bay, almost 2, 3, quarters just under 2 and a half and one of the gauges and oakland and ffo reporting over 2 inches of rain. even the south bay getting in on this. you can see over an and a quarter in san jose. so the showers right now, as i mentioned of lightened up a little bit here as we zoom in, you kind of see where those oranges and yellows have pulled back a little bit. i would love to tell you that we're done with this, but we do still have the chance of some of those bigger downpours kind of rolling through. but right now, you know, really has lightened up. so it's a good time of day for that is a lot of people may be making their way back home. and as you can see, there are a few

how the week's going to shape up now with kyla grogan. yeah, it's gorgeous today. i mean, this is a nice way to start, albeit it was a chilly start to this morning. but look at the half moon bay, just beautiful people out there taking a walk, enjoying it. you can see the ocean is nice and calm. temperatures are lovely. about 54 degrees. now we are a little bit below where we should be this time of year, but still not bad, especially you've got all the sunshine happening out there. but we've got some big changes coming our way. couple low pressure systems are going to be rolling in. you can see my satellite. there's kind of blinking because they had a dropout and data. but i want to talk about the rain that's going to be coming our way this week. this is a look at the next 5 days and notice the santa cruz mountains picking up a whole lot of rain. comparatively speaking. we are all going to get some rain out of this. no doubt about it. and it starts on tuesday night to wednesday. that is likely not going to be a whole lot. that's a little impulse. the bigger push. it

meteorologist kyla grogan tracking all that rain coming highland and dry here in the studios of kale. hang in there, my friend. all right. so we're going to start with a look at the roads here. the golden gate bridge. obviously you can see some of the rain isn't falling, not too bad at the golden gate at the moment, but those roads are slick out there. we are under. >> a flood watch as it is a good portion of northern california. that does go right through the weekend into sunday night. >> and, you know, concern here is that as this rain continues to come down, we could see some of the creeks and streams start to rise. we could see some of the low-lying areas start to take on some water and get into issues of flooding. as you can see, mostly light showers that are rolling across right now. we're gonna zoom in to the north bay. things have lightened up a bit. but the next wave here starting to take shape. same story as we head a little farther to the south. some of those showers just rolled through the peninsula. now over in the east bay. so it really is bay area wide. even the south b

let's see if that continues now with our meteorologist kyla grogan. hey there. got down to 31 in napa this morning. 32 in livermore in santa rose was another chilly morning. and you can see the cloud cover out here. not surprisingly. >> we are going to see another cool day today. in fact, a couple spots haven't gotten out of the 40's 2 of those that were very cold this morning. napa and santa rosa now sitting at about 48 degrees. so that is the beginning of an indication of this pattern change. it's going to be happening. wind is going to start picking up as well. really tomorrow is when the wind will start to get going. but notice as we take a look at stormtracker, you see some of these clouds starting to overrun the bay area and even a little moisture sitting offshore. it will hold off until this evening. but we do have rain headed our way and then we have bigger rain headed our way tomorrow night. so let's talk about the highs today. as i mentioned, they will be limited yesterday. we got up to that 60 degree mark in a few spots. i do not think will make it th

we're going to check in now with meteorologist kyla grogan to see what's happening. that's right. it is a great day. no doubt about it in san francisco and we are waiting for the storm that is going to come in to deliver an awful lot of rain to us. you can already see a little bit of moisture sitting there offshore, a little bit of it making its way to the south of us as well. but the main event is later this evening. and that will be courtesy. this low pressure system. you can see that counter clockwise circulation. >> and what you really notice to is that plume of moisture that is attached to it. that will be feeding all of that moisture and all of that rain right now. we're a little cool out. there were a little cloudy temperatures sitting in the low 50's. couple spots of made it up to 55 degrees. you can see in santa rosa and we're up to 56 in fremont and in spots like san jose. but obviously a little below average today, wind is also starting to pick up a little bit. now we really start to see that southerly flow surgeon. that's an indication that we're starting to get that f

let's check in now with kron 4 meteorologist kyla grogan who begins our team coverage high there.d we are definitely in that little period of calm before the storm. as the saying goes, you can see some of the clouds here as we take a live look in san francisco. >> having said that, it's really kind of calm today. and i said we're going to have a pretty decent day. but notice as we take a look here, a couple of things. number one, you see the clouds kind of overrunning number 2, if you head up to a point of pain, as you start to see a little bit of wintry precip there, you start to see the pinks and the whites showing a few snowflakes flying up in elevation. as we zoom out, this is that low pressure system and that is the one that's going to be delivering the atmospheric river moisture. you can start to see that trail of moisture that's going to be tapped into and that is going to bring some very heavy rain our way. but right now we're looking at temperatures in the 40's and low 50's and we're starting off with a pretty decent day, albeit a little bit cool compared to where we shou

meteorologist kyla grogan here now with all the the phrase we've been dealing with, severe thunderstorm warnings in parts of marin and sonoma counties. you can see to take a live look in that direction. >> over the golden gate bridge, just how ready things are. and, you know, the flag over there is flying to. we've got a lot to kind of deal with as we go throughout our afternoon. so this severe force under storm warning. >> has now been extended to 04:15pm. so this started about 3 o'clock today. and what we're seeing in these cells that are coming in with incredibly heavy downpours and they get dangerous very quickly. when you combine that with some of the wind that is out there and you can really see where some of those oranges and yellows are still rolling in at this hour. in fact, if we kind of zoom in here a little bit closer, you can see we've got about a half an inch, an hour of rain coming down. so earlier i had no 1.3 1.4 inches per hour coming down. so it is a lot of rain coming down very fast over very saturated ground. and that's why, unfortunately get to travel really quickl
