now, it has officially started a little farther back toward the west, across parts of kyushu, we have seen the rainy season kick in about four to -- well, two to four days ahead of average out here. now, we are getting a little break for most of the country as we go ahead through our thursday here. you see a satellite picture, clear skies have moved in, as we head into the weekend, another bout of rainfall is really going to start to push in from the west. and that's going to bring in some more showers not only parts of kyushu but toward tokyo as we head through your saturday. but what i take you to is video coming out of kumamoto prefecture. there is report of a landslide here. an 84-year-old resident was a little bit worried because the rain was just pouring down her backyard there on the mountainside. so, definitely kind of a scary situation. this is anything uncommon for japan, but those showers just definitely continuing to kick up out here. now as we take a look at the bigger picture though, we are looking at that stationary boundary continuing to inch farther off here toward th

portions of kyushu and down to the southernmost islands of japan we'll see close to 100 millimeters of rainfall over the next 48 hours. japan's not the only place being affected by the front. way back toward the south and eastern portions of china, still seeing a lot of rainfall. flooding is definitely an issue in the region and we're going to keep an eye on this because it looks like it's going to be still quite wet as we go into friday. taipei looking at wet weather, into hong kong and tokyo. now, as we go further toward the west into the arabian sea we're keeping an eye on cyclonic storm ashobaa. this system is slowly moving and so it's nearly stationary. winds of 74. but we are expecting this to be a big rainstorm. look at this. we calibrated the colors to where the red indicates 300 millimeters in 72 hours. that's a lot of rain. and we're going to see that in the eastern tip of the arabian peninsula through the next three days. flooding will definitely be an issue as we go forward in forecast time period. thankfully the winds may not be quite as big of a deal compared to the rainf

so we are hearing lots of reports of flooding and mudslides from many areas of kyushu. an additional 200 millimeters of rain is likely for this area. so more flooding and landslides could occur. good news. starting friday sunny weather will come back so definitely a nice break in the rainy season. as for tokyo, rainy weather will continue into friday. but generally dry over the weekend. heavy rain is falling across china as well. and on tuesday it fell in shanghai. take a look at this footage. students at a university decided to go fishing in the flooded waters. usually the fishing are contained in the nearby ponds and streams. but because of the overflowing waters, the fish were spotted on the campus as well. over 200 millimeters of rain fell on tuesday and wednesday in shanghai. that's much more than the average rainfall for the month of june. so the students enjoyed fishing on the street in shanghai. now the rain is actually easing in the city but instead the area to the south of shanghai will see drenching rainfall for the next couple of days. across the korean peni
