l.a. only a high of 71, san francisco 68. stl kind of stuck in that marine air. arizona 105. texas just as hot. we really roasted yesterday, 102 in san antonio. that's where the really hot stuff is. it wasn't bad in the pacific northwest. it wasn't too hot, too cool. metro go a little warmer at 78. boise at 69. still very much middle to high spring temperatures. we haven't seen any signs of a heat wave in the west this spring. now high pressure's going to provide us with a really nice weekend. i know a little system will clip us saturday here in the northwest with some showers. but most areas are going to be cry right through father's day. that's a really nice forecast. here's how we're looking for the day today. in l.a., we still have that marine layer to deal with, maybe fog and drizzle. we'll get rid of that as we go throughout the day. hoping to break out in sunshine this afternoon san francisco down to l.a. the valley should see temperatures in the 80s. as we go up the coast, not bad

that was the case before the l.a. case. and it would be odd for naumann leading the defense not to know i think if your lieutenants are out doing that. there is sort of circumstantial evidence that would suggest that darrow knew what was going on. when his lieutenants were arrested in los angeles to darrow is running to them on the street corner trying to alert them that the police had said a sting duress burt franklin and some other people there on charges of bribery. what i think and alan dershowitz is very critical of darrow and perhaps rightly so but i think what we missed is the context for those cases and what we have to understand is this is an era before collective bargaining and buckley had in the year before collective bargaining was a class war and i really mean war. where there were armies, private armies hired a capitalist to destroy unions and the way they destroyed unions is also by using violence and agent provocateurs and sometimes the unions would do violence on their own but sometimes they were instigated

as in most places you need a permit to film and certainly an l.a. and certainly in their place it's it's crowded with pedestrian traffic right venice beach but you know people try and and renegade the situation will bring us a small film crew down here to try and film without a permit so what a couple of rap groups have done in town is send out tweets saying hey we're going to film a video then a speech or we're going to theme a film a video downtown here's a location meet us there you know so they get this they summon this huge crowd for free for their video and they don't need a permit really don't need to pay any extras or anything so we've had a few instances where unfortunately the film crew gets caught they get told but there are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of kids here all dressed to the nines waiting to be extras in some rap video then they find out it's not going to happen if they get really angry and you know fights of broader program there's a lot of mayhem from that and then they all gather at the bus stops. to try and filter back

but one of the shows that i really enjoyed was "l.a. law." the reason i liked "l.a. law" was that it was about the kind of business of law. you know? a lot of it was about the real, you know, business. you have to work hard in that context to get drama. it's harder to write a show like "l.a. law" because you have to find drama almost in the ordinary practice of law. to my way of thinking, you know, doing a crime show or even a criminal defense show, that's the easy stuff to do. you know? there's drama that's inherent in it. the hard stuff to do is say, like "the paper chase" where they're going to the library. really. so you've got to figure out a way to make that interesting. we did a show called "scavenger hunt," a massive search through all the libraries. and it's actually a very exciting show. but when we went to the network, they said, what are you shooting? we said we're shooting an episode with seven libraries. and they were like, we got to cancel this. how did osborn get here? you know? that's the hard kind of stuff for television. i'd like to see more of tha

where we're not immune to it either here in l.a. and you know what happened here specifically was. two rival gangs started sending tweets out to meet at the basketball courts here in venice beach they started on a on a friday afternoon and they said you know meet at the basketball courts tomorrow at five o'clock in venice beach and you know i monitor all the the tweets for venice beach and normally i just do it because we have so many tourists and people you know take a picture and send a picture and i started just seeing this massive reach tweeting of this message and it was it was really strange and then i started seeing the gang language so you know in l.a. that's a pretty sensitive subject for us so. i learned the police i let them know that you know there was a call out. hundreds of tweets being retreated to me to the basketball court so the next day around five o'clock in that there was a lot of gang language being used and sure enough there were hundreds and hundreds of kids here not the normal tourists that you see walking around and about an hour later somebody was shot so
