caption colorado, l.l.c. >>> good morning. it is tuesday, december 21. i'm sydnie kohara. >> i'm juliette goodrich. too many now 6:30. topping our news this half hour, one man is dead after police open fire after a high- speed chase. sharon chin is in oakland where another suspect is still on the run. sharon. >>> another suspect is still out there. also investigators are trying to figure out what made police open fire in the first place in the city's sixth officer- involved shooting this year. now four of those shootings have been fatal this included. oakland officers shot a man after he and three others led police on a three-mile chase. it started when they spotted last week's shooting suspect in a red car with guns inside. officers tried to make a traffic stop yesterday afternoon. but the driver sped off and led police on a chase on the highway and city streets of east oakland. the car crashed into a house on the 3300 block of 13th avenue. police say the four men ran in different directions. >> one of the occupants in the vehicle was shot by our office

caption colorado, l.l.c. >>> a deadly police chase through two east bay cities and it all started with a traffic stop. anne makovec is in berkeley. the suspect allegedly tried to run over a police officer. >> reporter: there were several events that led up to what you see here behind me. that white car crashed. this is on a frontage road off 80 and 580. and officers from the highway patrol and oakland pd are still investigating. but the crash happened at 5:00 this morning. they are trying to figure out what caused the crash that killed wanted man in that car. >> guy in the car looked like he was still moving. he was slumped over the wheel. so, you know, it's -- it's pretty terrible. >> reporter: the 38-year-old man in the car lost control on 80 eastbound in berkeley. police say he was a parolee and had a warrant out for his arrest. >> the driver was critically injured. he is transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. >> reporter: there were two incidents that led to this crash. the first at around 8:30 last night when police saw the car in the middle of the street on

caption colorado, l.l.c. >>> good morning. it is thursday, december 2. i'm juliette goodrich.ydnie kohara is off this morning. she will be back tomorrow. >>> 6:29. at least 35 separate lawsuits, eight law firms and 100 people suing after the san bruno pipeline explosion. anne makovec is in san bruno where today we are seeing the first steps to sort it all out. good morning to you, anne. >> reporter: good morning. yes. it's been a couple of months since that blast on september 9. and a lot of the lots around here still empty but a christmas tree has emerged on one of the properties. apparently, the property owner's kids came and put up this tree on the empty lot as kind of a show that life will return here to this san bruno neighborhood. but in the meantime, the legal wrangling will continue as juliette mentioned. the lawsuits involving the loss of homes here and the emotional and physical damage to the people who used to live here all being explored starting today. attorneys for pg&e and those representing more than 100 san bruno residents will start planning court proceedings
