and so, you know, voters who are maybe older or maybe come from that era were in la or san diego era area or just even big baseball fans around the country would know steve garvey we've actually done a little bit of polling, believe it or not, because we knew this was coming and about half of california voters have an opinion of steve garvey. positive or negative, but about half of them have never heard of him into. >> interesting. and how does that compare to other candidates ? >> yeah, so for most, the other candidates, there is a good amount of name recognition. i think adam schiff has the highest name recognition with about 80% or or more knowing who he is. uh- katie porter also has good name recognition. barbara lee is not as well known around the state. congresswoman barbara lee. she's more well known in the bay area and among segments of the population. but but you know, this this 50% do not know figure for steve garvey is actually the highest for all the candidates. >> interesting. and this is, of course, to fill the late senator dianne feinstein seat on a permanent basis. of

or so. he confirmed he is running for this seat. steve garvey, of course, is known as one of the all-time greats to play major league baseball with the la dodgers. and later, the san diego a career that started in 1969 and lasted nearly 20 seasons among his career-high lights. he's a 10 time. mlb all-star 1974. nl mvp 1981 world series champion a republican. again. that's important, everybody. he is a republican garvey said he's running on issues he believes can bring california's together regardless of party, including costa, living crime and homelessness. but it will not be easy. he's running in a blue state for a seat that has not been held by republicans since before 1992. remember, this is the long held by the late dianne feinstein now held by the newly appointed laphonza butler. he joins an already crowded race featuring major democratic candidates. congress members, adam schiff of burbank, katie porter of irvine and barbara lee of oakland. and we still do not know if newly appointed senator butler plans to enter this race as well. so a lot of moving parts here. rain and james, we come back here live point out that i did reach out to the porter and shift campaigns
