i am here for la voce latina. i am here because i do not want you to come funding for la voce latina. i am standing for the families in san mateo. i need you to look at the budget and do not cut. supervisor chu: thank you. next speaker please. >> good morning. i am a organizer for the sr collaborative, a student, and i'm also a community artist. i'm here on behalf of la voce latina. i'm pretty sure you heard of the safe passage project. i am the artist. it is a painting that spanned 11 blocks and is supposed to be safe passage for the youth in the neighborhood to grow from each organization to the next. from the gate, la voce latina has been a force to be reckoned with. they have been supportive of almost everything that has come out of the sro collaborative, and these women have been immaculate. not only that, to get rid of a program like la voce latina, which is the only project which appears to let families is detrimental to the overall community as a whole. basically, we need this project to survive for our com

i am a mother with la voce latina. in the year 2010, they cut our subsidies and said that there would not be any more cuts. since then, we have seen increasing restrictions, and we work really hard as families in the tenderloin. we work to help it reduce red for families. the law helping with cars and undocumented people, and also with undocumented use -- youth and recently with safe passage. what we really want is the best for our kids who are the future of our community. please support us so we do not lose the only agency in the tenderloin for latino families. i have been a volunteer since 2005, and i am here with my children. thank you. supervisor chu: thank you very much. any other families? >> [speak spaniing spanish] >> good morning. i am one of the mother leaders of la voce latina. as you all are already aware, we're the only organization for latino families here in the tenderloin. we have new projects and developing new projects for you and kids in the tenderloin who are our future. as families, it is important

i am here to speak on behalf of la voce latina. the reason is since the beginning, when i got help from them through networking and getting jobs when bobby lopez was the organizer, now, they have a crystal, and the beauty of it is she is a very strong woman in organizing. she networks with the willing of the hispanic base, and she is doing very well with them. she was telling me a story about how san francisco -- in arizona, everything you get you have to fight for it. she pointed that out to me. i am saying you guys should restore their funding because the worker you have there right now is a very strong worker. thank you. >> good afternoon, supervisors. i am with seiu 1021. i am a non-profit union representative, and i want to thank the supervisors who supported us and the cost of doing business. we appreciate the 1%, but after five years of funding, we really do need a 3% for numerous reasons. one is that the health care costs has skyrocketed. i have two nonprofits that i represent here in health care costs have gone up 20% this

i know you have heard a lot about the la voce latina program. we were transferred after being funded by the city in 2007. in 2010, we were transferred against our will without dissipation or consent to the first five consortium. they put an rfp out for contract this spring that changed the scope of services for something we were not even doing and then give the contract to something else or did someone else. obviously, it was too late. we got word from the rfp the last week of may, so we could not go to the mayor's budget and ask to be included in the budget. all of you know about the problems we face in the tenderloin. i'm down here all the time. supervisor cohen, i know you are aware with the struggles at the bayview hunters point. big steps backwards are heartbreaking. they are heartbreaking because progress is so difficult, so arduous in places like the tenderloin, that when we see the progress that la voce latina has made to make our neighborhoods safer, to involve youth, and we thing that could be eliminated, that is why you saw all those
