his lady bird johnson, our first lady was the first to appear. it was based on extensive archival research and concentrÉ noted on mrs. johnson's environmental. it was really the first book focused on a first lady's substantive policy issue rather than a treatment. it became the model for the series. 17 books covering edith all the way through hillary clinton. for which dr. gould again broadened the field of scholars by inviting academics from very different disciplines. i'm to report that jill hummer and, catherine sibley are currently completing on laura bush and michelle obama respectively to continue that series. still in the rich 1990s, another marker of increased interest appeared when the national first lady's library opened at the ida sex, the mckinley in canton, ohio. led by mary regular, the national first lady's library reached a broad public audience through the biographical overviews and the extensive bibliography on their website. also reaching an arguably larger public audience was the brilliant redesign of the smithsonian museum. f
