ladies and gentlemen, this has got to change. i ask that we invest at least $100 million towards making our prisons safer and secure by repairs facilities and control systems. we are losing experienced personnel from our agencies and they're unable to remove competitive with pay and benefits in other areas. our highways are dangerous without troopers on patrol. every school must have a resource officer on duty all day. fires must be battled and contained. justice requires investigations to be properly conducted. correctional facilities need guards and our water ways and lakes must remain safe. i ask that we dedicate at least $60 million in new dollars to law enforcement, public safety and first response agencies for recruitment and retention and this includes pay raises, pay raises for troopers, wildlife officers, probation, firefighters, correction officers, forestry and emergency services personnel. this will also complete the placement of a school resource officer in every school in the state. lady blackwood. you're watching wednesday in parliament with me, mandy baker.r's questions was dominated by the issue of universal credit. this was the benefit introduced by the conservative led coalition to simplify the benefits system. the labour leader began with a question about the bakery chain, greggs. greggs are currently giving 25,000 workers a £300 bonus, but some of those workers on universal credit will only be allowed to keep £75 out of that £300. if the prime minister can answer that question and show me that is just and fair, i will buy him if he can roll myself! but the first aim of universal credit which is set to affect 6 million people was to make work pay, but when low—paid workers cannot even keep their own bonuses, it's clear that the government is punishing, not supporting people. will the prime minister do something to ensure that workers at companies like greggs on low pay will be allowed to keep bonuses? under this government, people on low pay will be able to keep more of the money that they earn. it is this government that is cutting
