laguna honda, the old laguna honda and the new laguna honda are two of the most wonderful resources the city owns. i don't know why the old laguna honda is in city because they couldbe hosting a number of programs for individuals especially people with drug use issues . it doesn't take a genius to know you cannot mix youngpeople who are actively usingdrugs and elderly people . you know the presentation is going to happen . i have to say i don't think it's going to happen without the culture of administrative complacency . if you notice the people here that are fixing the problem have been in these positions in the city for along time. but there's no accountability . when things go wrong they just play musical chairs. and to easily add up finding a scapegoat. they fire the new guy, it sounds like he has a good resume but if they listen to the employees, management was able to interface more with employees, they wouldn't need to spend $6 million on these contractors. there is no accountability for people at the top and that's really got to stop.in the meantime we you need to save laguna h

laguna honda is synonymous with san francisco and up there with golden gate park and general hospital and it's linked to this town for a century and a half and in my on and off 20 years here i was proud to be part of the fight to preserve it and build the new facility when we were wrestling whether we should move to the decentralized model that was weeping our country and ultimately landed with our state of the art facility that we have today and obviously when i heard the news in april, that we were up against it with cms, that was of great concern to me and i discussed it with others like supervisor ronen and i'm glad that we are having this hearing and hope that we can all work with our federal partners to reverse this tie by also think our eyes need to be wide open and the reality is others we are sitting here the patient population. i say that not by way of not wanting to support a reversal of the federal mandate that gives us four months possibly six but to give a little context what i would like to hear in this hearing and namely, insofar as dph is required to give updates to t

make a note about this particular special contract in front of us today, those nurses that are in laguna honda and s.f. general and other parts of the city. over the last few years, i have been meeting consistently with these nurses. they have shared horrific stories with me and have been really fighting for better conditions and respect. we had a hearing. it happened on the first day that we reported a case of covid 20 years ago, and those conditions have not gotten better but in some cases have gotten worse. we've centered around so many of the different things that would allow these nurses to excel and do better and hired those nurses in a much more appropriate manner to ensure we have the appropriate staffing levels, so i want to thank them for their dedication to the frontlines, their service to our city, and ensuring that our residents had the services that they needed to thrive throughout the last couple of years. i think this contract in front of us reflects their hard work. i know it was almost a 90% approval by their membership. they had almost a 50% turnout, so i know that this is s
