in calistoga there are closures and also closures near lake berryessa. all morning we will update this. these things tend to change. we are also looking at the regular commute. slow traffic on 580 as you drive to the altamont pass. the rest of it looks good from livermore, pleasanton and hayward. interstate 880 traffic looks good in front of oracle arena. if you're driving at the bay bridge toll plaza, traffic is light. >>> the northern california wildfires continue to grow and the cal fire fire chief said the situation is going to get worse before it -- it gets better. there were 23 confirmed death. 180 people are hurt. more than 3500 homes and other buildings are damaged or destroyed. the fires have burned 265 square miles. that is bigger than the combined sizes of san jose and san francisco. you can see on this map or the fires are burning. there are concerns some of the larger fires are moving towards each other. they could merge into one huge fire. there are 8000 firefighters on the fire lines in mendocino and through sonoma, napa and lake county. c

now, this fire is impacting so many areas, atlas peek road and south of lake berryessa, it burned 43,000 acres and is only 3% contained. businesses along highway 221 and kaiser road, that's what they're trying to keep this fire from spreading to and crossing highway 221 now earlier today we saw at the highway 29 the fire threatening downtown calistoga, that's what they're concerned about, we saw flames, right along the ridge line just about ten minutes away from downtown calistoga. they are concerned about that area as well, that's the tubbs fire, they're trying to get more containment around that only about 10% contained at this point, but they're trying to get that from reaching calistoga. so that's the very latest. we are actively moving around to where these fires are affecting the communities, this one here is the atlas fire and firefighters are there just trying to keep this from spreading. right across the street we see subway, we see insurance offices, we see many businesses in this area and traffic is slowing here on highway 221. so a lot of activity here, firefighters are just

this fire started in atlas peak, just south of lake berryessa.his is the crosswalk community church with 350 people here that were evacuated from their homes nearby. we've talked to several evacuees and they started monitoring the fire at 1:00, getting a knock on the door to get out now and grab whatever they could. one of the major areas affected is the silverady uno uacltetr b in calistoga, there is mandatory evacuation from sonoma road through henry road, conesville road, wildhorse valley road. this is one of three evacuation centers that the red cross has set up. this one is almost full and folks are going to the napa valley college. also, napa college -- napa county fairgrounds where cots are set up for people with food and water. you can bring your pets here and we've seen at least one dozen dogs. they have food and water for pets. this one is st mofu try another evacuation center. we were close to the fire before and could see the glow all around town and we could see the ashes raining down on us with smoke filling the air. we are a little
