there's another fire at lake berryessa forcing evacuations of the communities near the lake. here's a look bay area wide now at all the major fires. i can't think of the last time we've had so many fires simultaneously in so many different parts of the bay area. we're talking north bay here to the east bay, south bay, and then the ones we just saw there along the peninsula near pescadero. >> yeah, and it's a tough firefight. these are like crippling conditions and triple digit temperatures. ian cull is on the ground in san mateo county. give us an update there, ian. >> reporter: yeah. we're right other long pescadero creek road and they're calling it the august lightning complex fires. they said 22 fires were started in 16 hours on sunday, and this is what some of the result has been. you can see there are large plumes of smoke over this ridge, this rage between those two trees, and then finally this one. it's actually three separate fires coming together. that's why they call it a complex fire and more than 350 firefighters are on scene trying to douse some of those flames.

live here on this road went to bed last night figuring that since the fire that was burning near lake berryessa was least four, five miles away that they were safe. not the case. by midnight, heavy winds suddenly picked up and then blew the flames and hot embers straight down through the canyon like a blow torch. our katie nielsen captured the devastation herself in that footage you can see that the smoke literally going sideways. firefighters and law enforcement personnel, they had to go door to door, banging on houses to wake people up and get them out. and many cases they could not wait to see if anybody would knock on the door and they just kept on moving. evtienmeno to connect hoses or water, they were simply just focused on saving lives and we spoke with one family who tried to drive out but then the vehicle caught fire and they ran on foot then. >> i got all my children out and everything but then i just panicked a little bit. and it took me a while get out. so my husband was driving the car and it burst -- he got burned and he had to leave the car and it blew up and i was walking down b
