there's another fire at lake berryessa forcing evacuations of the communities near the lake. here's a look bay area wide now at all the major fires. i can't think of the last time we've had so many fires simultaneously in so many different parts of the bay area. we're talking north bay here to the east bay, south bay, and then the ones we just saw there along the peninsula near pescadero. >> yeah, and it's a tough firefight. these are like crippling conditions and triple digit temperatures. ian cull is on the ground in san mateo county. give us an update there, ian. >> reporter: yeah. we're right other long pescadero creek road and they're calling it the august lightning complex fires. they said 22 fires were started in 16 hours on sunday, and this is what some of the result has been. you can see there are large plumes of smoke over this ridge, this rage between those two trees, and then finally this one. it's actually three separate fires coming together. that's why they call it a complex fire and more than 350 firefighters are on scene trying to douse some of those flames.

this shows you the napa side of lake berryessa and again all of this. well first of all this red is the fire perimeter again but then when you add the evacuation. a mandatory evacuation. area over it it kind of turns into a blue and purple area but all of this is the evacuation area. this a yellow area here is evacuation warning. and this stretches from just east of napa stretching all the way along the foothills above silverado trail. all the way up to calistoga and then you hit the mandatory evacuation area on the east side of highway 29, which of course takes you up to middletown into lake county. so you can see this is the evacuation area there and then finally rounding out the lnu complex we go into sonoma county and this is still the mandatory evacuation area here in pink the fire zone is this heavier outline of red magenta and then the green area is evacuation warning. i'm sorry the green area is the all clear the yellow is evacuation warning this is just outside of healdsburg where this is all taking place dry creek area to the west of dreich we

and you can see this is an evacuation or hit this is lake berryessa and then it gets right down on the edge of vacaville all of this area sees indicators showing where the roads are closed and you can't even get into this area because it's so close and here's the city of aachen vacaville and you see just how close the fire is burning get down to a san mateo santa cruz counties. again this is a different map have to use a different way to click in to show you but the city of santa cruz is right at the edge of the burn evacuation area right here this is all the city of santa cruz with all these different districts, but you go just a little bit outside and head up highway one up the coast. davenport. and you know all the way up to san gregorio into san mateo county. that's all an evacuation area up in the mountains of santa cruz county. and then the biggest fire in acreage. the scu fire this is burning east of san jose and up around mount hamilton all the way over to san joaquin county you can see this yellow an evacuation warning area just east of highway one o one running through coyote

this is from near lake berryessa. the fire that was known as the hennessey fire ripped through neighborhoods there. it's part of that entire complex. the lnu complex fire has burned some 314,000 acres, and it is 15% contained. >>> as firefighters work tirelessly around the clock to put out the flames, some people are taking matters into their own hands to protect their homes and neighborhoods. this is will cook. he lives in boulder creek, where flames from the czu fire have destroyed homes and forced mass evacuations. he says he's been keeping an eye on hot spots and doing what he can to put them out. one challenge he's running into, there aren't any fire hydrants near him, so he's using water from a nearby creek to put out the flames. cook is also worried about looters coming into the abandoned area. >> there is also a potential for looting, and our presence here for myself and for my other neighbors is kind of an important thing. we look out for each other. >> cook says he hasn't seen any looters in his neighborhood

what happened overnight was it grew from the area of lake berryessa down to the south and to the east which is that new area in red that you see here in this map that dark area of red is the new bern area and you can see how dangerously close. it has come now to vacaville towards the bottom of the image and for that reason now that the filth fire department and the police department has issued new evacuation orders they've expanded them pryor west of orchard avenue had to evacuate and around foothill and south along alamo drive. well now they've expanded that so it's basically the northeast sector, the northwest section of vacaville from browns valley road west. all those communities now are being advised to evacuate or at least at the very least prepare to evacuate because the call may come with very little notice. if this fire continues to progress the way it has they say that's about the fire chief told us that 4,500 homes that are under evacuation orders right now that's thousands of people on the move so. >>because of covid they have even more evacuation centers for them to go to

there's another wildfire near lake berryessa. >> reporter: the hennessey fire and gamble fire burning in napa. both are 0% convene. the hennessey fire is the one that is threatening to hundred homes this morning. beside a mandatory evacuation order went into effect for at least 20 homes in the hills above rutherford. it's threatening hundreds of others nearby and they have been told to prepare to evacuate at a moments notice. the hennessey fire was sparked by lightning around 6:40 yesterday. it has burned more than 3 1/2 square miles. >> we have been able to survive this without major catastrophe for 130 years. we hope this one will pass us by. life is uncertain. >> reporter: lightning also started the gamble fire that is burning near lake berryessa. it is much smaller. burned 600 acres. it is 0% contained. the weather conditions expected to be very hot, very challenging for firefighters on the front lines at these two fires. we are hoping to get another update about what happened with this fire during the overnight hours. whether they were able to get more containment or a handle on

that's torched near lake berryessa. kpix 5's kiet do reports near napa county. >> reporter: so we are here on the far eastern flank of the hennessy fire and as you can see, the edge of the fire is just a couple of yards away from the nick lee knee family vineyards. it is not even 9:00 yet and it's already warm and it's going to get warmer and the hope is that they can hold the line. last night was looking a little dicey at the family vineyards. the flames were marching down the ridge line. the hennessy fire had exploded in size growing to 2400 acres in the span of a few hours but then the weather started to cool off and moist air moved in. and by morning, the flames had slowed to a crawl. how'd you sleep last night? >> well, i didn't sleep very much. >> reporter: at last report the fire is threatening 205 structures and phil's home is one of them. they took turns staying up and keeping an eye on the orange glow of the flames getting closer to their home. >> the fire is those pine trees just where you see the smoke. and
