. ♪ ♪ ♪ narrator: lake charles, louisiana -- one of america's gateways to the gulf of mexico.tight-knit, blue-collar community where people work hard and live easy. mcgee: i was born and raised in lake charles. it's about 100,000 people. it's a diverse community. many of our families work at the petrochemical industry and at the local casinos. narrator: but as thanksgiving approached in 2009, the peace of this bayou boomtown was shattered when shortly after dawn, a young woman was found dead off a secluded road just out of town. whoever did this was mad and angry, and it was a brutal murder. mcgee: this homicide was overkill in every sense of the word. someone was very angry when they killed her. narrator: investigators from the calcasieu parish sheriff's office processed a scene of uncommon violence. the victim had been beaten beyond recognition. she had on a blue jean skirt and it was twisted to the side. her bra was pulled open and her shirt was down. she's all cut up. so she did struggle. it appears she ran out of her flip-flops because they're in two different places, and

and then you can see in louisiana this one near lake charles, where they had another possible tornado. it's 6.40, this morning to get the idea as this progresses. this is slidell, louisiana, which is right across lake pontchartrain from new orleans, again, very populated area. and that is where we had a tornado teams touchdown. they're going to have to go in and see the damage. and then, you know, they'll start to write the tornado. once they're able to see that the national weather service will go out with this tells you is this is exceptionally dangerous. weather now is the part where i go. meanwhile, in california, it's been a beautiful day today. we've had some lovely temperatures out there. obviously we are not dealing with any dangerous weather, which is fantastic. we do have rain for the weekend, though. and i'll have those details when it come back in just a bit. thank you. a contra costa county coroner has now identified the 9 year-old who was killed in a rollover crash this weekend in concord. >> as dana hernandez tapia from oregon. the california highway patrol says the gir

we're looking at significant flooding from texas to lake charles, louisiana. we've got a risk of severe weather from corpus christi, jackson, on into new orleans. then during the day today, that system moves to the east. tomorrow a new frontal system starts to develop, we're looking at a severe threat stretching from minnesota to texas. and this one area from sioux falls to kansas city, the risk of two inch hail or more. and then tornadoes. and on into wednesday, another severe risk breaks out in south central plains. that same area, oklahoma, that jesse was just talking about. wichita, kansas, a risk for more severe weather there. damaging hail, again, tornadoes possible. strong ef-2 or stronger. and we're expecting rainfall rates in this lower to the lower gulf, two of three irchls per hour, and there could be some flooding. summer is arriving. we could see some records with temperatures anywhere from 15 to 25 degrees above average. we will detail that coming up in the next half hour. guys? >> al, thank you. we now move to the mounting chaos over the war in
