a fire that started this weekend in lake county has grown to 8,200 acres. has burned at least 22 structures so far, some of them homes. it's burning northeast of clear lake oaks. mandatory evacuation regards in effect for the spring valley community and double eagle w th in lake county. abc7 has more from lake county where lakeport police arrested a suspected looter. a cal grad who was shot and killed while camping with his two young daughters at malibu creek state park in l.a. county friday morning. 35-year-old tristan bodette was in his tent when he was shot. no arrests have been made. >>> a long beach fire captain was shot while responding to a blaze at a senior citizen home. it left a community in mourning. we have the story. >> reporter: it was just before 4:00 in the morning when firefighters in long beach were summoned to covenant manner for reports of an explosion and a smell of gasoline. >> we're trying to get a handle on exactly what is going on. >> reporter: firefighters heard alarms blaring, sprinklers had activated, some windows were blown out.

the lake is occasionally closed because of algae blooms ... but the report by the alameda countyd jury concludes that it is sometimes contaminated by sewage. the lake is frequently closed when water testing reveals contamination ... but the grand jury finds that the public isnt always told what that contamination actually is. the grand jury says the more likely source of the sewage contamination is probably aging sewer lines that are damaged or overwhelmed during big rain storms.
