it's over areas of lake county and farther north. few sprinkles reported over lake county at this point, but this is going to be sinking into the bay. looks like late afternoon, early evening. right now. it looks like it will not impact the central and south bay for the afternoon commute. tomorrow is going to be a different story, and i'll show you that here in just a moment. this is going to be tapping into colder air as this continues to sink south. we are looking at cooler breezy storm. and then thursday into friday, even colder storm and snow levels will be dropping. here's a look at the futurecast model picking it up for you this afternoon 5:00. so we now have some rain for lake county as well as in the north bay. but six 7:00 it looks to kind of hold steady just above the golden gate bridge, just above i-80. can't rule out a few sprinkles, but most of the wet weather looks like it's going to begin to slide in during the evening hours. and then tomorrow morning we're going to start out with scattered showers, and it will pick up

over areas of the north bay as well as the lake county. at this time, a live look here into san francisco. we've got a little bit of sunshine out there, but not much to speak of. an hour or so until the sun will set. here's a look at storm tracker two. you can see moderate rain falling over lake county and areas of sonoma county stretching over towards the coastline at this time. as we get to the afternoon commute underway, we do expect the rain to kind of remain right in here. central and south bay likely to remain mainly dry for the evening commute, but wow, we've got some pockets of moderate rain right over healdsburg, santa rosa, stretching over into the napa valley. let's head up into the sierra where snow levels will be dropping. this is a colder, stronger storm coming our way compared to the weekend. snow levels are dropping with an advisory for winter travel up above 5500ft. here's a look at the timing on this 7:00. so most folks are wrapping up the evening commute, and we're still watching it primarily over the north bay. it will

gradient from another 2 to 4in of rain on the coastal mountains and inland mountains there, up towards lake countyoma county, and nearly nothing again down towards san jose. so the rain chances will have tomorrow. taking a mostly san francisco northward focus, we'll see highs in the same range we had today, mostly upper 50s around the north bay and low to mid 60s from san jose southward. now notice how that atmospheric river gets on the move as we get into monday and tuesday, the frontal boundary itself will start to move through for areas south of san francisco. that's likely to be the heaviest rain of the week on into tuesday. then the colder air starts to arrive as more storms come marching in from thursday into friday. look at these sierra snow totals now as the snow levels drop. that's a big change. several feet of snow likely to be on the way as that colder air comes in to next week. so we've got rain moving northward tomorrow. it flies southward again monday into tuesday. likely. the stormiest pattern for the week ahead will be in that monday evening through mday tuesday. then look how thos

but the highest totals again tomorrow likely to be up here in sonoma county, lake county and northwesternu see those areas in red? a lot less again as you head into san jose and morgan hill. so morning temperatures will be mild mid to upper 50s to start the day and high temperatures tomorrow, upper 50s to low 60s, san francisco to oakland, low to mid 60s around san jose southward. now notice the rain projection monday into tuesday. a lot different looking here, as you can see on the rain estimates 1 monday night to tuesday time frame as this frontal boundary passes through and in behind it colder air. look at all the snow in the sierra. we have snow levels close to 7 to 8000ft this weekend. by thursday, as low as 4000ft, which means the higher peaks around the bay area could get a dusting of snow as we pass the middle part of next week. so those rain chances ongoing. this is what the seven day should look like in february. daily rain chances. but boy, that rain will come down pretty hard i think into the tuesday morning commute and cooler temperatures, which means a lot of sierra snow and

looking here, snow in the sierra, nevada and also snow in lake county. this is great news because it's not just great for the skiers. there's been some serious concerns about the snow pack. they did a snow pack survey that and water managers on friday and we're way below normal that to earth. 2 thirds what we ought to be in terms of snowpack in the sierra nevada. so this will help change things if we didn't have these rains coming, it would be a real concern is we have a lot of catching up to do, but we're going make a pretty good dent in it with this precipitation and all the snow pack monday, we start to see again monday night, especially some more rain come in and then that moisture plume head south again, target's us once again across san francisco bay area. and you can see even some moderate amounts of rain and again, that snow. so we get that the basic a big area of low pressure. that's a big trough right here. and that is just escorting all of this moisture in our direction. where does it come from? it comes from hawaii, of course, to sometimes th

county. we're gonna take it out to lake tahoe where you can see we've got white caps on the lake. we are under a lake wind advisory there. they've been dealing with some snow. also wind happening down at the surface here about 31 miles per hour. you can see the temperatures are in the 40's now down in the surface. but we did have snow in the overnight and you're taking a live look at china peak. this was covered in snow earlier. they've cut since kind of clean some of that off. but if you take your eye back here, you can still see where some of that pressure snow has fallen and more on the way. in fact, a bigger system on the way for them as we've got cold air behind the system that's pushing through right now. some of the time we get to thursday, we're talking some pretty big snow totals. still to come. so you can see we're under the winter weather advisory and parts of northern california and then in tahoe were under the warning. so this system was rsthe second sy though, the colder system coming on thursday into friday, 2 to 4 feet of additional snow headed towards the sierra.

lake tahoe area until noon. right now, there are still chain controls on both 50 and 80. >> sonoma county sheriff's office reportspeople have died in separate locations in the santa rosa area in the recent flooding. deputies found the body of one person on private property on franz valley road, just outside of calistoga, wednesday afternoon. they also say a man riding a bicycle died yesterday morning in a flooded area of west santa rosa in the santa cruz mountains. several trees were knocked down in the recent rains as the storms moved through the mountains. the biggest danger is the larger trees surrounding homes. one man in boulder creek has been going through his neighborhood, helping to cut down tree branches and remove debris. >> driving through ben lomond, i watched the whole top of a tree fall, hit the lines and land on the ground. what happens is that it rains for like a week. the ground gets really saturated and the big firs are usually the first ones to fall. wind is a big deal. >> and with even more rain on the way, experts advise us all to examine trees around our home and get rid of possible hazards.
