that is when an estimated 100 people dressed entirely in black stormed the whole foods near lake merritt taking up outdoor dining tables and chairs and hurling them into the street and a whole foods spokesman now says into the windows of the store. these violent protestors are known to oakland police as the black bloc but watch as "occupy oakland" protestors swinging chairs and sticks to keep them away from the whole foods then form a human chain around that store to help restore the peace. but black bloc was just getting started. they ran next to the bank of america at kaiser center where seven-foot-tall glass windowpanes were shattered with hammers and rocks. not one pane of glass was spared. they then shattered the atm screens and spray-painted the building. the u.s. bank next door was also spray-painted by the black bloc. and one block away at 20th and webster, black bloc continued with smashing the windows at chase bank. that's the one near lake merritt.ig debro is live in oakland with why police decided to move in and what crews found when they were cleaning you the area. >> reporter: good morning. we're at 20th and harrison, the camp may be closed but some of the people who opened the camp a week ago say the camp might be closed but the movement that brut them here is alive. and the remaining few on the sidewalk, that, as city workers, picked up garbage. police arrived at the park around midnight. according to one camper, police gave occupiers a plans to -- a chance to leave on their own will and be cited and/or arrested. many people retreated to snow park. one camper says police were just doing their job. >> we were asked plightly to mi a lot of us were just getting back to the camp to get our things. some people were arresting. they asked us politely with no harassment. they just politely asked us to get their stuff. >> reporter: clearly, others did not get their belongings. we've seen city crews here since 5:00 this morning. thre
