can be considered that there's a a northwest flight on june 23rd, 1950, that sank while crossing lake michigan and has never been found. and again, that's something people have been looking for for years. there's my favorite this is another lake erie one, the marine sagar. it's actually submarine that was built in 1851, in october 1853, the inventor, his name was laudner phillips. he brought it over to lake erie to try salvage a safe off a wrecked steamboat called the atlantic again. but we're starting to see safe money. everybody's looking for money all the time. i just i, i just wrote a panel about this for an exhibit he brought to the marine cigar over. he took about he he tested it. it worked great in 30 feet of water. so he gets in and he's supposed to be going to about 150 feet of water, you know, which he's never done before. he gets about halfway down, he starts to leak, says, oh, maybe not. so he goes back up and the rest of his crew, they decide, you know, let's be safe and not put anybody in it. let's just lower it down and see what happens. well, it must have continued to take on w

this is a fire in white lake township, michigan. smoke rising in the air above the tree line. neighbors said they heard the initial impact of the blast around 10:30 on friday night but minutes later, second explosion. it took several hours for crews to contain the fire. and police say canisters that help regulate airflow to underlying gas lines are what exploded but at this point, no word on what caused those explosions. >>> efforts to reach 41 construction workers collapsed -- in a collapsed tunnel in india have altered. the drilling machine they were using broke down on friday and crews tried to work by hand to remove debris consisting of rubble, stones and metal . right now they need to pull out the entire damaged drilling machine and replace it with new equipment. the workers have been trapped for a full two weeks after a landslide caused a portion of the tunnel to collapse. about 650 feet from the entrance. authorities are sending them hot meals and rice and lentils through a six inch pipe. and they are getting oxygen through a separate pipe . >>> pope francis is opting t

last night near lake michigan just about an hour east of chicago.was heading to chicago when amtrak says it struck a vehicle obstructing the tracks. incredibly though that train remained upright, which is perhaps why there were no serious injuries. thank goodness for that. just hours earlier, also in the chicago area, this dramatic scene. a chicago transit authority train crashing into a snow plow that was on the same track. at least 38 people were injured, many of them taken to the hospital. some with serious injuries. at least four of the injured were children. now that crash shutting down service of multiple commuter lines. and breaking news for our viewers in the west. a csx train came into contact with a train in atlanta this morning. eight cars derailed, sparking a fire. we are told no crew members were injured and there were no hazardous materials on board. without a doubt, investigators are going to be looking at these incidents very very closely. >> thank you. tsa said it expects to screen some 30 million passengers over the holiday travel

. >> looking a little snowy in some spots of the great lakes and we're going to see that continue through the day today, western michiganennsylvania, ohio, new york all picking up on some of this additional snow through the day today. we've got 6 million people under these winter alerts. where you see the bright blue is that lake effect snow warning, and those are the spots we're really going to see the snow ramp up today. here's why. we've got that strong wind coming off the lakes. this is leaving us with additional snowfall but reduced visibility and slick travel if you're out in these regions. especially east of erie and ontario, those lakes are going to see more snowfall for folks in that region as we get into tomorrow. some of the higher amounts will be centered across portions of of new york. portions of of ohio and pennsylvania also picking up maybe an inch or two as well. many while, chilly temperatures across the southeast. we've got freeze warnings in place for places like tallahassee, savannah, and up into myrtle beach. temperatures on the cool side today and tomorrow, jonathan, but we'll eventually see warm

we have 7 million people from michigan all the way to upstate new york under winter weather advisories, lakesnow, advisories as well. you can see the winds coming across the great lakes and where it picks up that moisture, then cools off. and we get that snow coming across western new york and interior sections of new york, cleveland as well. we're going to be looking at another 16 inches of snow, the tug hill plateau between watertown and utica and heavier amounts in western pennsylvania. but after that, things start to calm down. the big problem going to be these temperatures. feels like minus three right now in wichita. 5 in chicago. 12 in buffalo. nashville, you feel like 29 degrees with the wind chill. for today, our high in new york city, 39 degrees, 12 degrees below average. as far south as new orleans, only 38. tampa, 15 degrees below average at 6 degrees. the chill continues tomorrow. but as you look to the west, temperatures are warming up, and we will start to see temperatures rebounding as we get into the weekend. cleveland, you will be in the mid-40s. new york low 50s. mid-60s i

you can see the lake-effec snow machine starting to fire up, bringing heavier snow around ohio as well, michiganwill be watching this system as the low pressure pulls away snowfall upwards of three inches per hour later tonight the leeward lakes from cleveland, buffalo, syracuse, the tighill plateau, upstate new york tomorrow more persistent snow. some of them may actually make it into new york city. we're just talking flurries, nothing sticking, but it's going to be windy with wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour so that may cause some airport delays look at this, central new york, to upper central new york. upwards of 36 inches of snow more or. also down through buffalo into erie, pennsylvania, four to six inches of snow that's going to be a tough one, as we look, though, the rest of the country, nice. mild in florida, sunshine. sunny in texas sunshine all the way into the pacific northwest. chilly start along the west coast. but all in all, not a bad way to start off. even if you are staying inside for cyber monday, get outside and enjoy some sunshine. we will get to your local forecast in the

lake battleground states, all right. again, biden versus trump. 2020 results. biden won all of them. here we have a tie in michigan, we look in pennsylvania, look at that, another state where donald trump is ahead, wisconsin perhaps the best number for joe biden in this particular polling data set. but overall, if donald trump wins the states he's leading in in these polls, he will, in fact, be the president of the united states. >> is there one problem? there's 50 different policies, what's the primary issue for biden. >> i think the primary issue is age. age in two different ways. here's this question, which i think is so important, too old to be an effective president, the vast majority of 70% of likely voters across the six battle ground states say that joe biden is too old. donald trump, only he's only slightly younger than the current president of the united states, 39% say he's too old to be an effective president. this number has been going higher and higher. four years ago, this number was in the 30s. now it's 70%. it's a matter of perception, even though the numbers on age aren't too different, the quest
