i began -- i rented a place in lake tahoe and sat there for the entire month of august. it was september ninth or something. i had summer break from teaching and i just sat down from the time it was morning to the time it was cocktail hour. i always say this because cocktail hour got earlier everyday because it was so hard to write this book when i had to write it in a certain period of time like that. what i had done finally, in the end, when it's done i thought it was the perfect situation. i had to be in that situation to write this particular book because that was the situation that the character steven was in. he was in a place he didn't want to be. he was far from people he wanted to be close to. he was not in his territory. that's how i felt writing by myself, far from home, not wanting to do it everyday from the time i got up to the time i got drunk but i did. and the second half was written all in a month. and it worked for this book. i can't say it might work for every other book it probably wouldn't work for any other book. i started this book in third person

we do have some snow still up across lake tahoe. the current temperature, 30 degrees. it is very scattered and we're on the drying end of this. we still expect snow showers tonight but overall tomorrow we'll get some sunshine and you can enjoy the fresh snow. today the numbers are down about 25 degrees. on monday and tuesday, we had some low 70s in the east bay. livermore, 58, 56 in los gatos. close to 60 in santa rosa. let's bring you to the current radar picture. we'll find not too much left as a system we dealt with today is pushing off to the south and east. a few spotty showers in the south bay. some very cold shower right across morgan hill and also gilroy. that's really the last of at least this system we had today. and current numbers in the low 40s in the north bay. we're not looking at any widespread frost tonight and throughout the north bay. we have some winds kicking around. that would keep the frost away. the temperatures would be dropping into the 30s. then as we head throughout saturday, we're looking at the fog, the clouds, even some breaks of sunshine
