here's a look at lake tahoe. still a little snow there. numbers were in the 30s earlier.ow going for a high of near 70 today. look at that san jose with those northerly winds. we keep getting a couple degrees of warmth each and every hour. you will really feel the effects of that today. elsewhere the sea breeze returns at our coast so those numbers will be comfortable. 61 livermore and 62 union city. mid-60s already in los gatos. here's a look at the forecast. of course, it's clear. the marine layer compressed or absent all together. even our beaches nice and sunny. but that sea breeze kicking up from five to ten miles an hour first early on. then by the afternoon ten to twenty miles an an hour. we will get the breeze. we will will look four warming across the bay. perhaps records tomorrow with a few more records near or around the low 90s. but this morning we are still trailing behind where we were 24 hours ago mainly in the north bay. here's the setup. high pressure offshore. nudging closer to california and as that happens the gradient relaxes and the wind is relaxing

here's a live view of lake tahoe, beautiful shot. clouds there, oh, they just changed the camera on us, darn. it was a beautiful shot, but there will be some windy conditions. a wind advisory for lake tahoe, snow and some rain expected if you're heading there. 52 in santa rosa, 51 in fairfield. okay, and what you can expect for today, we've got the chance of showers once again. i'll show you the forecast maugds model and the timing of the showers. cloudy and cooler today, so temperatures will be coming down a bit and then a big warmup this week. if you're heading to the game at 1:05 today, at&t park, it's going to be right around 59 degrees. mostly cloudy. so you don't need the rain gear. i'll show you why with the forecast model. so the satellite/radar image shows this area of low pressure. this is going slide south towards nevada bringing us cloudy and cool and spotty showers during the morning hours and also some during the evening hours. then high pressure builds over the pacific. sunny and warmer conditions, really warm, later o

watching those showers in the sierra which has been dropping a few snow showers at times around lake tahoe. notice how things are calming down as the sun sets. the atmosphere begins to stabilize. these showers will begin to decrease, including the few we've been watching around lake county this afternoon. so mainly cloud-free tonight. even along the coast some patches of low clouds. as we head along tomorrow morning, these clear skies will lead to temperatures mainly in the 40s and some 30s as you head further inland. 40s around the inner bay but look at the 30s showing up around live more and up towards santa rosa, down towards morgan hill. some of the cooler spots tomorrow morning so you definitely need the jacket for the morning. now we're getting closer to t-shirt weather by the afternoon. 70s foinally coming back to the bay area. and by thursday and friday, these numbers you see behind me may jump by 10 degrees. 80s coming back in your seven-day forecast. we'll have a look at that coming up in our next half hour. back to you. >> thanks, rob. >>> some finished, but some could not. stil

you can see what's happening up around the lake tahoe area. we have some activity. we have reports of snow flurries at 80 and 50 at times. on the west slope of the sierra nevada, they have a cool weather pattern that's sticking around. for them that's how it goes. at least for the next 12 hours we started to warm up today. the winds have died down. it's still breezy out there. 28 at san francisco airport, half-moon bay at 20 miles per hour. so still pretty windy. the winds are sort of the story. they've been ramped up. now they're ramping down and now we're going to warm up because there'll be less wind tomorrow. you will notice it right away. tomorrow's temperatures five to 10 degrees warmer than they were today. current temperatures mid-60s for the most part. the story is going to be how chilly it's going to be tomorrow morning. there's no frost advisories or frost warnings. we've had some reports of frost in the north and east bay. i think tomorrow morning it'll be a similar deal. just means when you get going tomorrow or the kids get going to school it's probabl

most of the action still off to the east where they have seen some snow showers at times around lake tahoe. so hour by hour through the evening, some of those cloud buildups, north of santa rosa dropping down to the south and a few around the santa cruz mountains. but not much in the way of low clouds on the coast and enclosure skies inland. so without any clouds overnight, they tend to act like a blanket and keep our overnight temperatures up. clear skies, rapid cooling tonight. you will notice it as you step outside. 40s and 50s as early as 9:00. as you wake up tomorrow morning, 30s and 40s for many of our inland valleys tomorrow. some patchy frost is possible in some of those north bay valleys. 71, we'll warm up nicely tomorrow around san jose. tri-valley should see mid-70s. even oakland looking pretty good, 70 degrees for tomorrow, 60s for san francisco and the real warmup kicks in as we head into thursday and friday. now we're talking some temperatures getting close to 80 degrees inland as we wrap up the workweek. from there things heat up even more now. looks like the warmest weather

i began -- i rented a place in lake tahoe and sat there for the entire month of august. it was september ninth or something. i had summer break from teaching and i just sat down from the time it was morning to the time it was cocktail hour. i always say this because cocktail hour got earlier everyday because it was so hard to write this book when i had to write it in a certain period of time like that. what i had done finally, in the end, when it's done i thought it was the perfect situation. i had to be in that situation to write this particular book because that was the situation that the character steven was in. he was in a place he didn't want to be. he was far from people he wanted to be close to. he was not in his territory. that's how i felt writing by myself, far from home, not wanting to do it everyday from the time i got up to the time i got drunk but i did. and the second half was written all in a month. and it worked for this book. i can't say it might work for every other book it probably wouldn't work for any other book. i started this book in third person
