this fire has called the sutter lake site hospital in the town of lakeport to be evacuated. tonight, hospital officials say all patients have been transported to nearby community hospitals. this is the second time that this facility has had to be evacuated in two days. yesterday, dozens of patients had to be moved after evacuation orders were put into place. >> a sixth person has been killed in a carr fire. authorities confirmed the victims remain was found inside of a bird home. seven people are still missing. the fire grew almost 10,000 acres to over 89,000 acres. at this point it is only 5% contained. our reporter has more from shasta county. >> reporter: the carr fire has burned a path and destruction through shasta county. fueled by dry vegetation, low humidity and steep terrain that makes it difficult for firefighters to gain ground. this fire is burning very fast and filling the air with smoke. veteran firefighters told us it is creating its own weather pattern. >> there are instances where the weather that it creates will have its own lightning. it can create its own

>> well, this is a rest stop at the entrance to lakeport. me that thick inversion layer, that's where firefighters stood their ground last night. a thick inversion layer blanketed the hills on the western edge of clear lake above the water's edge. the thick umbrella hid the flames of the mendocino complex fire that already burned 75,000 acres. some residents of a rural community called potter valley had been evacuated. they were allowed in today. but not miguel, who was forced to leave his home saturday. you could see the thick plume of smoke shooting over the mountain near his home. >> it's kind of over. >> reporter: the mountain? >> yeah, over the mountain on the left side of it. >> reporter: the left side of the mountain is where the fire is heading, the fire that's hard to contain, the firefighter's natural enemies, the heat, turbulent winds and dry and

this first shot is up by lakeport. you can kind of see the smoke coming out of the complex fire in mendocino. is ending up in the inversion -- it is ending up in the inversion. the oxygen gets taken away as the smoke syncs. the air quality gets bad in the valleys like winters. all of those areas -- the air quality is horrible. what happens is the inversion list the fire becomes oxygenated -- out oxygenated -- gift oxygenated. as soon as the sun starts to increase the inversion depth, the air starts to kick up any fire starts to grow. air-quality -- that is what we are seeing mostly in the bay area proper. it is still okay but definitely noticeable. you with the at sunset some of the reds and oranges in the amateur. we will talk about the forecast for these fires and for you as well. >> the cycle seems to be part of the problem. the steel fire near lake berryessa has destroyed a homes since it started. it is 75% contained. 4 more homes were damaged. today, most of the people evacuated are being allowed home. about 70 fi
