jack/lam:: so how did victory? local 5's digital news editor lucas casey is here with us now to break down the numbers. lucas? lucas: between the hours of 2:30 and about 10:00 a.m. tuesday morning, it felt like the winner of the iowa democratic caucuses would come down to the winner in the final, outstanding precinct, the elusive des moines numer 42. but, when we look deeper, that final precinct was only worth about 2 and a quarter statewide delegate equivalents, not enough to swing the race for sanders. so let's look across the state, and see how clinton did pull off this hairline victory, first by looking at the most populous, and therefore valuable states by delegate cont: woodbury, potawatamie, dallas, madison, polk, blackhawk, linn, johnson, scott, and dubuque. clinton only won four of these ten counties, and sanders had wider margins in several. what it came down to, oddly enough for clinton, she took a total of 60 iowa counties in all, including a vast majority of rurual areas, places much less kind to when
