campbell. we are following new developments in the search for a morgan hill teenager, sierra lamar. tara moriarty joins us now with the new evidence that was found. >> reporter: we are here at the command post. they made the release that they discovered her purse. sierra's black and pink juicy brand purse with some clothes folded neatly inside was lying near laguna avenue. the night before, crews found her cell phone off sheller avenue. these discoveries were made less than two miles from sierra's house. >> we're going to concentrate within a three-mile radius of sierra's mom's home, looking for any evidence of a crime, clothing, tire tracks, anything that can help out in the investigation. >> reporter: volunteers are combing the field around this area and officers are using dogs to search clues. sierra is a freshman. she sent a text to her home around 7:00 and there is no evidence that she rap away. authorities have contacted all sexual predators that they know off within a ten-mile radius and say they will now expand their search. as for these clothes, to see if there is any fluid

campbell has today off. >>> we begin where a new effort will begin to find missing teenager, sierra lamar. allie rasmus is live where volunteers are already meeting. allie? >> reporter: well, they just opened the doors to burnett elementary. these are the headquarters for the search effort to find the girl you see in these pictures. they have her -- they have her name and pictures and as can you see, there are people are getting a head start. you do need to be 18 and provide a valid i.d. and register. anyone who wants to help should come to burnett elementary here at 85 tillton avenue. rege stration begins at 8:00. now, the goal of the volunteers is to help find clues in the disappearance of 15-year-old sierra lamar, the morgan hill teen missing for more than ten days. this volunteer operation is operated by the kids' foundation. the group clap klass foundation was started by marc klass whose daughter went missing 20 years ago. they are not saying how many volunteers they are hoping to turn out. but they have maps out for 200 this week. >> the idea is to get the community involved and get

campbell. good morning. i'm dave clark. it's friday, march 23rd. it's been a week now since sierra lamar disappeared and investigators are now talking about a new development. ktvu's allie rasmus is joining us live in morgan hill, where investigators are back on the scene. so what is going on? >> reporter: dave, we're standing at the intersection where sierra lamar was supposed to take the bus to go to school a week ago. she never made it to school, no one has seen her since, and that's why the fliers with her pictures are posted in this neighborhood. i'm going to show but a quarter mile down this road is her home. and just in the last hour, santa clara county sheriff's investigators and the fbi have come out here and they've set up what they're calling a roadblock canvas. they're stopping drivers, coming down this street, and asking everyone they stop if they noticed anything suspicious here a week ago. they're trying to gather any new information they can to generate new leads in the search for sierra lamar. the disappearance of lamar is still considered a missing persons case, but san
