we've also got lana.told us that one of her credit cards was about to start charging a monthly fee. she's had the card for ten years, she didn't want to have to pay an additional charge. this is kind of common. people are getting these charges. >> it's so common lately that people are seeing these charges. what i told you, i think, lana, was that you could opt out of paying this fee by telling the card company that you weren't going to use the card any more. and you were just going to pay off the balance at the current rate with the old fee. but that you should be very careful about doing that. if you wanted to take on a mortgage entitle next year or a car loan. >> did that help you, lana? >> yes, definitely. i'm going to, i'm keeping the card until i am able to secure a mortgage. a loan or a big loan that might come up in the next couple of years. >> well that's terrific news, so lana was helped as well. so jean, try as we might, we're not finding anyone who is really mad at you, yet. >> we'll do our bes

[applause] >> thank you david. my job tonight is to announce the winner of the best of the national book awards. you have heard this is the 60th national book awards, so we came up with this idea, actually we still live from the booker and what we would do is we would look at all the books that had won the fiction emprise over the last 60 years. it turned out to be coming and then figure out and have a contest to name the best of them. but it turned out that 77 books have been awarded over 60 years, and so there was history of that and in some years the j

king's older sister, not only here in washington but in at lana where we visited the bird -- in atlantah home of dr. king. we have often had conversations about how it is important that we tell all of america's story. for sure it is important that we make sure we are taking care of thathe natural wonders that we have and how we move forward with a 21st century conservation agenda. as important as that agenda is, it is equally important an agenda to make sure that we as the custodians of history tell all of america's story. that includes the stories of the japanese internment camps, or the story of our newest national park in california, which essentially tells the story of discrimination against african american soldiers in world war ii. that is very much a part of the responsibility of this department. so i would say to you and to all people who are listening to this statement from the, when i speak about diversity, i speak about diversity in its completeness. that means no one gets left behind. not white males and not african- american females, not first american's, nobody gets left b
