my name is lance carnes, i'm a resident of north beach. i guess i wanted to make a pointed to about taking care of our neighborhoods. you know, we're certainly going to be in a situation of putting up with a lot of construction without any real benefit to the neighborhood, a station or service. i'd like to start off and echo what the previous speaker said and that is we had a meeting in january 22nd which was unfortunately terminated before a lot of people traveled some distance in fact, to get there, were able to ask questions or get answers. and i'd like you to reschedule that as soon as possible. it's nice to come down here and visit you folks at city hall, but little two-minute sound bytes. much better to have a forum where we can ask questions and get answers. last thursday at the planning commission meeting, it what noted that the owner of the pagoda site is to be compensated generously for the delay in his development plans while the extraction project proceeds. there is no mention to compensation to the nearby businesses particular

my name is lance carnes, i'm a resident of north beach. you probably heard there was a neighborhood meeting a few weeks back. it was ended by a fire alarm. someone pointed out that wasn't surprising for the mt folks present, it was getting pretty hot in there. but i'd like to encourage mta to reschedule that meeting or supervisor chiu because i think [speaker not understood] is the key to this whole thing. * neighborhood input is the key to this whole thing. my position, i would like to say i'm not in favor of any extraction of the tunnel boring machines in north beach nor use of the pagoda palace for a whatever station there, anything. i'm still in favor of leaving the tunnel boring machines in chinatown. and it's -- the previous speaker pointed out that the chance of our extending the subway system through north beach station and beyond probably won't happen for 15, 20 years. so, perhaps the money that was -- that could be saved by leaving the tunnel boring machines in chinatown which i believe is somewhere near $80 million could be bank

. >>> good afternoon, my name is lance carnes. i'm a north beach resident. i'd like to hit two points. one is the underground water flow problem at the pagoda site. and to this presentation by mr. reiskin and mr. funge, they did note that they could drill this -- dig this hole, pump out the water and everything would be just fine. however, behind their presentation was -- these are actually fairly serious problems and their timelines to solve them in one month before construction begins. this problem scuttled a previous project at the same site in the early 2000s and i think if it's not adequately planned for and taken care of, this will be a serious problem. the project may not be successful. there may be a hole there for longer than they anticipated. there were some problems with overflow of the water into adjacent properties and businesses. the second area, disturbance to the neighborhood is a restaurant right in the shadow of the pagoda theater called piaza pelagrina. with construction and noise likely to be there, it would probably ruin this business. t
