william and janice bright-- they were in town to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary; 64-year-old leslie dennison-- she's credited with saving her granddaughter; steve smith and his 15-year-old son, lance, from arkansas; and the driver of the boat, 73-year-old bob williams. jim pattison, jr. is president of ripley entertainment. they own the boating company. should that boat have been on the water? >> well, i think yes at the time, with what we knew then when we knew it, it was calm water. >> reporter: but many local boaters are questioning whether the vessel should have been on the water because of the weather. the national weather service issued a severe thunderstorm watch thursday morning. the tour started in the early afternoon. just after 6:30 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued, alerting people that 60-70 mile per hour wind gusts were possible. the boat was still in the water when the storm hit and sank just 7: foa coleman, who is still recovering, the horror and panic from thursday still haunt her. >> the worst thing you could ever feel. the one thing i remember saying is, if they don't make it, lord, take me, too. there's really no need for me to be here. >> reporter
