police issued that amber alert after wilbert garcia was abducted from his school in landover. they canceled the alert early this morning after he was found in an airport in reno, nevada. we're told 36-year-old sylvia garcia, the boy's mother who does not have custody checked her son out of dodge park elementary school just before 8:00 a.m. thursday. the amber alert went out around 7:00 p.m. in that time the mother apparently ditched her car and traveled to nevada with wilbert. she was arrested at 3:00 this morning. wilbert is safe and on his way home to maryland to the family who is here. school leaders say they are reviewing wilbert's school records to see if they had a court order preventing the mom from leaving the school with wilbert. she did tell them he had a doctor's appointment. they are now reviewing their policy to see if anything did not go according to plan and according to their policy. the school pio tells me this morning on the phone, quote, we are thankful for the public's help in ensuring wilbert's safe return. a happy ending to a very scary situation for the

police say 9-year-old wuilbert joel garcia was taken from done park elementary school in landover this morning by his mother sylvia who does not have custody. fox 5 laura evans is live with the breaking details. >> reporter: tonight prince george's county schools, social workers and the prince george's county police department are very concerned about this. they are concerned about the whereabouts of one of the students who went to this school at dodge park elementary. we spoke with the principal here just a little time ago and the director of the public security here at the school. we'll hear from them in a moment, but we want to tell you a little more about the little boy, wuilbert garcia. he was brought to the school early this morning by his father and at 7:50 this morning the mother, 36-year-old sylvia garcia, she checked him out of the school saying that she was taking him to a doctor's appointment. now we want to show you video that the school just released to us moments ago of the two, the mother and son, leaving the school this morning after she checked him out. then at 3 p.m.
