it may be that it's not a landscape that makes you feel small, it's a landscape that gets rid of your sense of scale entirely because there have been so many times out there in the deep of winter camping for week after week in the open desert where at night it gets down to 10 below or 15 below zero and there's nothing in your life but the sky and the stars. and you are looking up into the sky and you think, i could just stand and walk into stars. i could become a giant. there are times in the desert when you are not small but you are infinite. you take up everything. there is no boundary between you and it. when i look at the artifacts that the anastazi made, especially the painted black and white, i see that landscape. i see the colorado plateau. this bowl is from american museum of natural history and that's where it is now. that's the storage place. where it was from before is pueblo bonito in chaco canyon where there were rooms filled to the ceiling with bowls stacked within each other, bowls like this. all their designs, you can kind of get a glimpse around this. they have this f

stories are everywhere out in this landscape. when you walk down into the bottom of the narrow canyons made of sandstone and you put your hands on the sand stone faces and the smooth shallow scallops that look like champagne glasses, you can feel the shape of the last flood that came through. every place in the desert is a story. every place is a passage way. it's really hard to walk very far in the desert for me because there are so many stories that start opening up and lead you from place to place and place and soon you start picking up the patterns of wind, of rain. you pick up the patterns of people who were there before you because, out there, things seem to last forever. if you put a footprint down in certain places, that footprint will stay for 5 years, maybe even 10 years for somebody who's got a really good eye where you come walking along and you see the slightest depression in the ground and you kneel at it and you figure out that it was a person with about a size 9 foot walking across the desert 8 years before you. e

landscape workers need our support. we need to make sure that every worker that is hired by the city gets as much pay and benefits as they can, especially after the last election. now that we have a delay, there is no reason not to be more inclusive. in my work for clean energy, i have directly saying the laborers run into problems because the rules were not laid it down about who works when for what they. let's get ahead of the game and make sure that since we have a delay any way, let's do it right. >> thank you. are there any further public comments? >> given that there are no >> given that there are no comments, we will close public

whether they are on islands or the new, permeable landscaping. this will slow traffic down, increased the beauty of the street, make it much more engaging for our residents, and also helps with the trees that have been replanted here to increase the beauty of the street, but making it that much more enlivened with greene streets. at the same time, it took a few more months than anticipated. it was expected to take four months. when dpw dug into the main sewer line, they discovered some major work that needed to be done. they wanted to make sure that the sewer line would work perfectly, as well as each of their feeds into homes. while infrastructure is sometimes hard to imagine or see, you will be -- you are standing on the street that will probably be the best for decades to come. you will have an unstoppable sewer. no longer those backups. the fire chief will have a pleasant time going down the street to make sure that the services are there. as i said earlier, this is a beautiful project coming in, not only the designed for infrastructure, but

this landscape has undergone no changes since then. visitors are fascinated by the mysterious origin of the grove and the trees there in they think of it as a living relic of the distant past. well i can tell you that i really do feel mystical about it was that people rarely break the rules here they're not eager to destroy or cut things down to the bush that some people might say i'm crazy but i honestly believe nature herself is at work here and i think this place is protected by higher forces it's. a small canyon on the outside edge of the grove mocks its natural boundary in the north the west and east in the horns of an infamous mountain river called the hostile joint where the canyon is at its most narrow and the never ending war of war is a sign of it's dangerous. and you'll know. this canyon is notorious because the water rises quickly when the snow melts or up to terentia. the whirlpool formed a strong water splashing against one side of the ravine and then against the. anything that falls into the whirlpool gets sucked down to

this landscape is all about water. and on the last trip you can see the sea of cortez out there on the horizon. we walked to the edge of the dunes and even out there, just past the edge of the dunes, you would find places where there's -- there were piles of pottery, pottery scattered in the sand, and then the desert pan extended out and then you reach the sea of cortez that lies beyond. you know, i should -- i want to show you guys these next slides. i'm kind of running out of time here but i've got to show you this place. i'm not going to go into heavy detail, i want to take you down here into the sierra madre. i was following routes all over for the house of rain, trying to figure out where the anastazi went when they left house of rain. many of them made the modern pueblos but other groups continued south. i followed pottery trails down into the sierra madre where my wife and two others went out and we came to these cliff dwellings. it seemed like every single cave we looked into had cliff dwellings. and this wasn'

streets around san francisco, we will continue to make sure we have sidewalk landscaping. these gardens you see, when it rains, they will absorb water and reduce the amount of water that will end up in our sewer plant. the papers will also collect water. as much of -- as half of the rainfall will be a absorbed into our landscape and continue to sustain a healthy street and help the soil and reduce the amount that goes to our sewer plant. the design had been changed. the lights are human scale, they are not the tall ones that go overhead. they are designed to fit the neighborhoods. the plans are also from around the area, so they will do well, low maintenance, but with the newcomb avenue residents, they will help to make sure that they do well. this is a victory. i want to thank the staff from dpw, the project manager, and all the landscape architects who worked hard to make this a huge success. i am from the neighborhood, so i am looking forward to seeing many of these streets become more sustainable and enjoyable. thank you. of york sure. -- all inspired by the landscapes of york shier. >> this picture is 10 meters wide, and the artist wants to step back and think about the bigger picture. the majority of the exhibition is recent work, almost all of which is of the same subject, the landscape. you have swapped the sunny climes of l.a. for east yo rkshire, why? >> it was not planned. i tell my friends in l.a., what are you coming back, i say i am location, as they say in hollywood. i began to realize there was a very, very good subject here. >> how much of the hollywood hills are in these paintings? >> they cast a marvelous light. east yorkshire has a wonderful white. it is not as intense, but there is more variety. >> your about wind farms and planning? >> yes and no. there is beauty and everything, even a wind farm. for instance, sometimes they'd dump rubbish, old refrigerators, and sometimes i look at it and think, how could they dewitt? -- how could they do it? other times, there is a side of me who thinks that it is not that bad. >> you have this moniker of being britain's greatest living artist. >> i
