joining me to talk about that and more, lanhee chen. hoover fellow and policy director. >> good to be with you. i want to read a little bit oval we are getting. he says: where do we go with that statement? social media was shut down. it's tough to know accurately about numbers and people and what continues. >> it's difficult, to know exactly. one thing that we always knew was that the iranian regime is going to strike back hard. this should be no surprise that they are taking this action and they are advertising this action. i think one of the challenges with the current uprising is that it doesn't really have a singular leader in the same way that the uprising in 2009 had come of the so-called green revolution. of course the original islamic revolution back in the late 1970s. this particular set of protest to the little bit more diffuse. it lacks a central leader. it originally started as an anticorruption, sort of antieconomic policy sort of protest. it now has morphed into a general antigovernment protest. we'll have to see what happ
