surely after the end of that time lapse, and the rain started. if this one is over the bay in annapolis. that's another nice time lapse of the clouds increasing shortly after sunrise off with a few showers starting to develop in the distance. where now we have rain man is out of washington, but a little locally. isolated showers in the metro area around the beltway, very bright green color basically indicating sprinkles. our atmosphere is still saturated, so not all this is hitting the ground. at least they're getting something. we will take anything we can get at this time. upper right side of your screen, more raiis d.c. we will have a few more areas of showers off and on through the rest of the afternoon into the evening and probably a stray sprinkle tonight as well. there's not much energy associated with this rainfall. by this weekend i expect a lot of energy in our atmosphere in the system that may stay put for few days, giving us soaking rain. here's the futurecast. what i like is that it shows the rain is not going to be falling everywher

i think this is one of the coolest time lapses i have seen in a while. if you missed it you can catch it on twitter or facebook. some clouds moving overhead as well. we have variable cloud cover across the region today. partly cloudy. 65 and now at dulles, 72 in fredericksburg, 69 in d.c. here's a look at some cloud cover overhead. mostly off to the west and southwest. is is where we have the energy right now in the deep south and it's pushing the clouds our way. the clouds will continue to increase. we need this rain and we needed to make a beeline to washington to help alleviate our drought situation. looks like we will get clipped by some of that grain as we go into tomorrow -- that rain. let's look at the futurecast. it has a pretty good handle on the situation, keeping most of the showers tomorrow morning and afternoon very slight and brief. down to the south of washington. a few migrating northward later on in the day. i'm not getting very excited in terms of accumulations. we will take what we can get right now. this has the potential possibly sou

this is the time lapse at the washington monument just before. quantities clouds. i will put those in the motion. the storm went comes a little bit higher. these are waves in the atmosphere. sometimes we can see them in the clouds. of marching just to the east of the washington monument. what a beautiful beginning to the day. it was a breezy day. we have those northwesterly winds helping to stir up the atmosphere a little bit. if you have any of the high spots, i would not worry about a frost or freeze. 55 right now in washington. the low spots will get a little bit frosty. earlier today, the wind was gusting 25-30 miles an hour. in arlington temperatures are still into the 40's. look at the temperatures around the country today. way up into the 80's. omaha, neb., jacksonville, florida. it was the warmest march ever all the way from northern new england in spots like concord, new hampshire to oklahoma city. the pattern has not changed much even though we have had a little ripple with rain showers. overall, the jet stream to the north meaning more sunshine coming. t
