this is commissioner larkin. there was a reference to acceleration, what do you mean by acceleration. i didn't see an explanation of the term. it has a specific meaning in construction, but it may not pertain here. >> good morning committee members. i'm from the deputy for housing. i would be pleased to answer the question. the accelerated conversion is kind of an interesting term and it's not specifically related to construction. what we're doing at the two large public housing sites is to convert the units from the public housing program, which is section 9 of the federal housing code to section 8. so we're going to be rehabilitating the units so they meet the requirements of the section 8 program and then convert them out of public housing into section 8. as folks may recall, the housing authority and the city are in an agreement with hud to move remaining public housing units out of that platform because of public housing program is so poorly funded and move them into section 8. the funds in this item, $5 mil

. >> yeah, i mean, one example that we've been working with larkin and they've been a fantastic partner and have been surveying marginally housed youth in san francisco from i think 13 all the way up to 24 or 25. even understanding how people who are experiencing homelessness are using technology is interesting to understand even down to the basics of are people able to make an appointment for an overnight shelter or find a bed or resources. we're listening to our partnes as well as a number of different places to understand what resources are needed and how people are using technology. somebody may have a phone one day, but the next day it's stolen. so i think we're still trying to figure that out exactly what are the ways people are using technology. that might look differently from one person to the next. >> my next question is and last question was, when you get this -- are there a lot of people asking for resources and getting -- paying for internet access, are there any resources in place by now or having needs? >> that's a great question. i think part of this report will do a map

move forward with more quick builds on streets like hide and larkin.explore alternatives to police enforcement for compliance. more funds to upgrade old infrastructure like traffic lights. i know we can do this because i know the advocates in the neighborhoods and the staff. we are excited about the lowered speed limit and ready for what is next. thank you for your time and partnership. keep this momentum up. thank you. >> thank you. next speaker, please. >> i am a long-time resident san francisco i support the change for 20 miles per hour streets in the tenderloin. we need to reduce the speeds of cars all over the city. especially the tenderloin where most people walk and bike. i know the entire board knows it and the staff know this. we need to do more than change the speed limit signs. without physical changes to the streets and design changing the streets. the speed of drivers is unlikely to change significantly. what we should do is cities like oslo have done is close streets to cars. we dedicate so much space to automobiles in the tenderloin. onl

moving eastward on both sacramento and clay street west of larkin, there's two travel lanes and on street parking on both sides of the street. we would take the right-hand travel lane to make the emergency travel lane and, again, retaining on-site parking on both sides of the street. as we move further east, the corridor gets more constrained and at times when the bus lane is not in effect, there's just one travel lane and on-street parking on both sides of the street. so when the bus lane is in effect and as shown in the bottom image, the parking on the righthand side of the street would become a tow away lane for transit and there's no parking during the hours that the bus lane is in effect. and so this map then shows the proposal for each block within the one california corridor. where the line is red are locations where we would be installing a bus lane, where there is not one today. and where the line is orange, our locations that already have a part-time transit lane and we're adding ours to that transit lane. and then where the line is blue indicates the locations that already have
