thank you to larkin for hosting this fabulous event.ible group of people for this collaboration that's been brought together. what we need to start with is that trafficking, sexual exploitation happens here in san francisco. these are our children. it is a systems issue, not an individual issue. no one chooses to be exploited. trafficking and exploitation inhibit the entire community from thriving. that's why we've all come together to change the trajectory of lives of young people affected by trafficking and exploitation and to prevent others from becoming more deeply involved. in 1967, huckleberry youth programs established the first youth shelter for run aways in the country, addressing reasons why people found themselves on the streets of san francisco. unfortunately, our 52 years of experience, we have seen too many young people commercially sexually exploited and too many young people at risk of human trafficking. but every day, we also experience the resiliency of young people. this project is an attempt to bring together various

the larkins was there for me serving younger than 18 up to 24. this shelter was healthy and safe. i am here because many of my friends are will in shelters, navigation center. unfortunately, they are not white as safe and healthy as the larkins shelter was also, the navigation centers, the intake assessed is a bit of a barrier, just to get into the navigation center. i think that is somewhat discriminatory. i said aren't funding doctrines services for people living in an able housing unit they must also fund sex worker services a lot of work has been introduced, i support that. want to see the graham expanded citywide. as an hiv positive person i was fortunate enough to nullify for hiv transitional housing. transitional housing should be available to all san francisco regardless of the hiv status. as i said, the adult shelter has a huge waitlist and it is not safe and can deteriorate a person's health. i'm also supporting funding inspections of the health center and conflict resolution training for staff that are working population. i am forever thankful to the department of san f

this is an extraordinary thing to be celebrating the gilbert baker rainbow apartments here on larkin street in the tender loin. i want to give a special thank you to you, brian. i can tell you that during the budget process, there was nobody who works harder than brian basinger and the q foundation to make sure that everybody who is lgbt have a safe and secure place to call home. thank you, brian. give it up for brian and he leadership. i'm also very excited that we have this flag here in the tender loin. the tender loin is among, along with lower pope, the oldest lgbt neighborhood, not just here in san francisco, but across the country. it is a neighborhood where compton's cafeteria riots, the first ever documented collective uprising of lgbt people in the country took place in 1966 and it is a neighborhood where the compton's transgender cultural district, the nation's firsts officially recognized cultural -- transgender neighborhood is here today. it's a place that, for so many years, during some of the worst times in san francisco when the so-called public decency laws prevented
