i'm larry beil. >>> now, lisa, i want to know if larry can do the worm. >> exactly. >> since he called can you do the worm? >> you get down. he's telling us to get down. let's see what you can do, dude. look at that marine yer. it is a perfect security blanket over the bay area. it is compressed and holding to the surface there, just a couple hundred feet. that's due to high pressure that has built into the south of us, putting that pressure on the atmosphere to keep that marine layer right close to the surface. so for the rest of us, that means a modest warm-up around the bay, but inland it is going to be hot today with mid, maybe even some upper 90s towards the delta. then we will look for the fog to return tonight. that will keep us cool. it will move into parts of the east bay, and then by next week cooler days. that on-shore flow ramps up. the marine layer is going nowhere for the next several days, it will stay with us and after tomorrow grow taller and spread out a little bit. that will help us with the firefighting efforts and even mist and drizzle arriving along the shoreline

i'm larry beil. >> this fire is near dublin just north of 580. it's burned close to 250 acres.ave seen numerous drops. homeowners have been told to be prepared to evacuate. >> news reporter lesley brinkley at the scene with the latest. lesley? >> reporter: yeah, this fire started around 1:30 this afternoon. just north of interstate 580. it was even closed for a short while because of the smoke. the fire is in a canyon near the fallon road exit, premium outlets. let's look at sky 7. huge plume of smoke visible throughout the tri-valley and beyond. over 20 engines out here. two hand crews, three doziers. they hit this fire with everything they had, cal fire bringing in four air tankers, dropping retardant, one helicopter dropping water. i'm told that eight to ten homes on doolan road were evacuated. they attacked this fire with everything they had, started out at fiveacres, accelerated up to 250 acres right now. it was spreading and threatening some dense housing subdivisions out here. and people, as you can imagine, were scared. >> anxiety. definitely the smoke was very thick wh

i'm larry beil. >> i'm kristen sze. the accident happened at sunset trail and sunset in brentwood.ews anchor eric thomas is live in brentwood with the latest. eric? >> reporter: specifically she was walking here to edna hill middle school. she had quite a distance left to cover. gps says the distance from where she was hit to here is just under two miles. let's show you the scene this morning. she was hit and thrown several feet by an suv. you see paramedics putting her on a backboard, on an ambulance, her injuries were so severe she had to be flown to uc davis medical center. what police do know at this point is there are no crosswalks there. it appears that the young girl was trying to cross and was hit by the suv driven by a female suspect who then left the scene. she was caught a little while later by officers there and booked into the county jail in martinez on charges of dui and felony hit-and-run. it has been a long day for police and a long day for school officials who have had to deal with the aftermath of this. >> the officers obviously administered first aid until parame
