i'm larry beil. >> and i'm kristen sze. the fire broke out around 2:00 this morning at the home on delano and san juan avenue near the city college campus in balboa park. abc 7 news reporter vic lee is live with more and what we've learned about this tragedy. vic? >> reporter: kristen, we're told that the fire was contained mostly to the front portion of the house. the two residents, the father and the daughter, had to be taken by firefighters through the back of the home. we are told that they died from smoke inhalation. >> the young woman arrived at the hospital. she was pronounced dead. and about 30 minutes ago we found out that the father had just passed away as well. >> reporter: that sad news came this afternoon. ricardo ron and his 23-year-old daughter camilla perished in the fire. ron's wife died several years ago from cancer. an entire family gone. >> i knew the girl when she was like a little toddler and they were really good people. i hate that this happened to them. >> reporter: the fire broke out shortly after

i'm larry beil. >> i'm ama daetz. big news, the jury is hung over derick almena.but the jury has found the ghost ship creative director not guilty. almena and harris were charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter, one for each victim who died in the fire. they each faced up to 39 y to 3y in prison. >>let get to laura anthony who has been following the trial from the start. laura? >> reporter: larry, for all the waiting the past several weeks for a verdict, the result came in a matter of minutes, somewhat suddenly this afternoon. this morning it seemed like the jury would deliberate perhaps into next week. but then a few minutes before noon, we heard that a verdict had been reached at 2:00. we all filed into the courtroom. there was a mixup with paperwork from the jury. there was about a 20-minute delay. then when the jurors came back, the clerk of the court began to read the verdicts. 36 counts, one by one. max harris was read first. not guilty on all 36 counts and then we heard that the jury was deadlocked, 10-2 in favor of guilt for derick almena. right

i'm larry beil. >> and i'm dion lim.ousand flights have been delayed or canceled since saturday when construction began on the airport's busiest runway. abc7 news reporter liz kreutz joins us with what travelers can expect. liz, what a headache. >> such a headache for so many people. windy out here at sfo right now. but those numbers have only gone up. we're told right now 289 flights have been canceled, have been delayed today. 124 cancels. the average delay we're told is about 45 to 60 minutes. we've talked to some passengers who have had delays much longer than that, some five hours of delays. other people stranded, their flights canceled all together. annalise hutchins is trying to get home to orange county, but the construction shutting down the runway for the third day isn't making it easy. >> we had jetblue and it said last night we were supposed to board at 4:00, and this morning it said we were supposed to leave at 2:30 in the morning. and we went to jetblue's front desk, and they said there is no jetblue flight
