. >> reporter: fox's father larry bennett is trying to piece the story together. a lot of questions. >> his friends came and knocked on my door and told me that my son was in the delaware river and they couldn't find him. >> reporter: bennett rush to the linden avenue boat ramp friday night where a search was already underway. it lasted several hours and resumed when the sun came up. >> a couple of us went up to the store and then we come back and all this happening, like, in the blink of an eye. >> reporter: fox a lincoln high school sophomore was with a group of their best friends unwinding after a long week. even though fox can't swim, friends say he likes the water and jumped in a few times for fun with his buddies. >> they did it four times, he was perfectly fine. >> obviously he didn't expect things to turn out this way. no one did. no one could have been predicted it. >> reporter: fox is described as special young man who impac impacted teachers and staff at lincoln high. several of whom spent their saturday at the search site dealing with their own shock a
