inside and you know there are going to be a number of dignitaries talking, including police chief larry escoveljust didn't even have that in them. they just couldn't do it. but the chief talks about what kind of person michael johnson was. he said he was brave and simple in the way that he lived like a spartan. he really didn't have more than he needed. he was approachable and respectful with his community as well as with his force. and the chief said he's going to share a funny story about michael johnson that his wife shared with him. he didn't want to give it away. it's too early but i suspect that might be one of the more poignant moments we hear inside. let's take a listen to the chief talking about the johnson family today. >> well it's not easy. i mean we all know that. not only did he lose his life losing a life in the manner he did, providing service for our citizens, and answering that call. so right now it's the initial stage of grieving obviously, and we want to bury him in a proper manner and after that yes, our men and women, it's a part of the process that we're working with now
