larry harvey died in april. an event hoenoring his legacy ad influence is about to begin. amanda is there live with the story. >> reporter: a celebration of life for the man who sparked the global museum that we all know as burning man. one that started right here in san francisco. that was back in 1986 when harvey first burned a man on baker beech to mark the summer solstice. 70-year-old harvey suffered a heart attack and died. just as harvey honored his dad by wearing the staple stet son hat, the crowd will honor harvey's life, legacy and influence. >> we would hate to have this much attention given to him, but we are doing it anyway, because he's not here to complain about it. but, also it's really important for us to recognize as a group, as a community what he did for us. >> and in true burning man fashion, guests are going to add to a -- in harvey honor. the piece will be moved back to nevada and burned during the burning man 2018 event. the doors open at 6:30. the big show and celebration happens just about an hour later. i've outside of castro theater. abc 7 news.
