jon. >> yeah. bit of a tough day for larry page. trial over breeched copyrights and patents. he took a cab to the courthouse by himself. that's in contrast to larry ellison who showed up in a lexus yesterday with a small sbrourj. anyway, once he got out of the cab, the trouble started the phase of the day in this trial, i don't recall, he said he didn't recall a lot of things whether an important document was used at an android meeting where they talked about java. whether andy reuben sent him certain e-mails. didn't recall whether he said things about copies apis and even the court in this case. even the judge said he doesn't recall a lot of things. page might not be done if oracle can prove the java document was used at an executive meeting, they can call page back to ask about it. he did contradict his deposition a couple times, ellison has a lot more courtroom practice. he took s.a.p. to court a few months ago. >> jon, thank you very much. internet companies taking a page from the tv networks for their version of the so-called up fronts. those are big ad sales presentatio

. >>> jon fortt, you have some breaking news on the oracle trial, no? >> that's right. larryust got off the stand. he went through quite a bit of testimony. mostly about java and oracle's dealings with it. google is trying to make the case java is supposed to be free. oracle came in behind and decided to start charging for something it hasn't charged for before. larry ellison's mission on the stand was to stay that's not the case. google is the only company dealing with java in the way that it is and not taking the license. ellison tried to make the point he's always thought -- he had always thought he would be able to convince google to take a license. but google, who's defending here, did manage to sort of make the case that oracle and ellison tried to make their own phone and tried to work with google first. when that didn't work, they then decided to sue. that's where we are right now. back to you. >> jon, thanks very much. >>> by the way, it's worth remembering that in march of 1997 larry ellison said he was putting together a consortium investors to buy the struggling a

jon fortt has the story. >> reporter: love these larry versus larry stories. so many different ways to take this.bout java, as you said. oracle says that google is using it improperly, should have asked oracle first. should have used it in the way that it's using java in android. oracle, of course, no stranger to the courtroom. the question is, a lot of legal experts say how big the damages could be here. this has turned into more of a copyright case. it could be in the billions or millions as far as what google might end up be required to pay. where are legal experts saying this is an issue google might have to pay? one of the software guys at google sent an e-mail in 2010 saying we need to negotiate a license for java. it was a strategic e-mail where they say we're going to talk to the cfo at oracle. we really don't want to move to any different option on how android is built. but we want them to think we have other options. really what we need to do is negotiate a license for java. not only that, before that, there was an e-mail in 2005 saying there were a couple of options. or we can just do
