larry wright junior deputy wish the new ponca i said hello my name larry wright junior my name is buffalo spirit come from the buffalo clan and. i'm a citizen of the pumpkin tribe in nebraska. it's an honor to be here on behalf of national congress. american indians, you know, and i say thank you on behalf of our president and our executive committee. it's a it's a real honor to be here and talk about this subject and be part of it. the national congress of, american indians just celebrated our 80th anniversary and ncaa i was born out of the fact that, as you heard here all morning, the attacks on tribal sovereignty and even the snyder act was about 20 years 20 years old at the time those attacks were still common at that time it was formed the the era of the termination period which is near and dear to my heart. my my people were terminated. one of the last tribes terminated of 109 in 1964. and we were federal be reinstated in 1990. but the work of nci and we heard from different organized has has ebbed flowed over the years but. at the heart of our mission is still true today is defendi
