from souls to the poles, to college campus visits, latosha brown is a co-founder of black voters matter which has launched a bus tour in key battlegrounds. >> i think what you're seeing in georgia we're seeing all around the country. >> reporter: she believes the state's record early voting turnout is an encouraging sign. >> part of what i think we have to be really careful about is the gnartist where in many ways they seek to depress the vote. >> we need black voters and white voters. >> reporter: incumbent senator raphael warnock is banking on a multi-culture coalition to prevail against his opponent. >> i think that the differences between me and my opponent are stark, and if you want to represent the people of the state of georgia, they deserve to know who you are and what you're committed to. >> reporter: the republican party set up community centers here in the atlanta area and other predominantly black cities to court african-american voters. so far in blah, more than -- in georgia more than 1.6 million people cast their ballots, many black voters, so a push to drive younger turn

back with me is my good friend, latosha brown.atter fund. she's joining the conversation as well. doctor ali, i will start with you. we've heard a lot this week about how climate change is a big contributor to how since these tropical storms are. can you explain why, for those who are not science minded, why that is? >> yeah, it's very simple that when we burn and utilize fossil fuels, it warms up both our oceans and our atmosphere. that, then, intensifies these very storms that we see. the hurricanes. these extreme rain events that are going on, and also the flooding. this is not new science. in the 1856, units newton pope showed that by the utilization of these types of things, that we were going to base these types of situations and, of course, now the ipcc, the national climate assessment reports, have all said that we continue to have an addiction to fossil fuels and to burn them, then we are going to intensify the things that we see from the climate crisis. >> you know latosha, i wanted to have you on as a part of this conve

back with me is latosha browned, she is the chair of the black voters fund. you were instrumental in getting that passed in florida. yet that was half the battle. what recourse do the people being arrested have? have you've been in touch with any of them? first and foremost, we want to know. are they okay? >> well, first of all, thank you so much for having me on this morning. and yes, we, now we're looking at that again. it gets me infuriated. it gets me just angry. but here's the deal, right? the florida rights registration coalition has made a commitment from the time that fast forward to walk every step of the way with the 1.4 million people who should be enjoying the benefits of it. and what we're seeing here made us react in such a way where we are now, we have -- got a legal defense funds in order to bail people out who are getting arrested. and we have provided them a criminal and legal defense. as a matter of fact just yesterday, breaking news, one of the folks that was arraigned to have legal representation, was able to have his charges dropped. wit
