if an employee committed money laundering then hsbc could be charged with money laundering. money-laundering is treated very seriously in the federal criminal code. if there's a real estate broker someone drives up with a gold-plated cadillac and says i would like to take some houses with cash and the broker knows you are not supposed to except more than $10,000 in cash and says sure and the guy says i would like some houses with quite secretive well padded baseman's, anything with a firing range would be useful actually. the broker would have had enough reason to think this may be someone up to 7 illicit but the broker could be on the hook for money laundering and spent decades in prison. the broker isn't even like the mexican drug cartels trying to actually eat launder the money. the broker's interest is only in selling houses and making a nice commission. still absolutely can be prosecuted for money-laundering. if a bank is convicted of money-laundering the bank is automatically supposed to have a charter revocation proceedings, lose its charter. typically true in corpora
