fbi agents visiting the laundrie home on sunday.ems belonging to brian laundrie to assist them with dna matching. and brian's parents provided the fbi with what they could. laundrie and petito had set off on a cross-country road trip in her van in june. posting regularly on social media sites like youtube. >> 10:00 in the morning but it rained all afternoon yesterday. >> reporter: but laundrie returned home in petito's van without her on september 1st. her family reported her missing ten days later. laundrie's parents told north port police on september 17th that they had not seen him since september 14th when they say he left home with a backpack telling them he was headed to the nearby reserve. meanwhile, cnn has obtained a dispatch audio recording related to an august-12th incident in moab, utah, in which police pulled laundrie and petito over for questioning after receiving a 9-1-1 call saying the pair were involved in some sort of altercation. the 9-1-1 caller told police he saw laundrie slapping petito. in the audio which has

and that is, the -- the -- the laundrie family. are finding out that brian and his family stayed at a campground 75 miles from their home and they do this after he returned to florida without his fiancee who lived with them all in florida but with her van. and he comes home and -- and they all go camping together. what questions does this raise for you? >> well obviously, if this is a campground that he's familiar with, and i believe gabby and he also had looked at that campground at some time before, that this could be a place that he might go to or stay at to hide out. but i think what's really interesting is the lawyer's statement was that brian and his family went to this campground and his family left together. i don't -- i don't know why he would drop out brian and his family left together unless that maybe was a particular choice that he made but he didn't say that they all went back home together. he said they left the campground together. so i would wonder whether or not he departed from them sometime after they left that

so far, there haven't been any recent sightings of laundrie anywhere in the area. area in wyoming where gabby petito's remains were found. but nothing since he returned back to florida. so they are simply working with -- they are doing as much as they possibly can do with the lead they have. the -- the concerning thing here is that they haven't had leads pointing in any other direction. so, you know, for now, they'll probably stay the course. >> if laundrie's parents were concerned he might hurt himself when he left the house, why didn't they immediately call the police? >> there is no good explanation for that obvious discrepancy. if -- if his family was concerned for him when he left, there's no way to explain why they waited for three days before they called the police. um, you know, and it -- and it raises some unfortunately some uncomfor uncomfortable questions for them as to were they -- were they trying to give him an opportunity to get a head start? were they intentionally avoiding law enforcement during those three days to try to give him some cover to get

we know that brian laundrie returned from wyoming in gabby petito's van by himself here to the laundrieer 1st but now we are getting some new information about this camping trip. cnn has confirmed with the laundrie family attorney that the family went camping to the ft. de soto park which is about an hour or so north of the laundrie home, where we are, on september 6th and 7th. that's what the family attorney says. he says they all went camping together, and that they all left the campground together. what we don't know is if they all came home here together. so that is still a question. but the pinellas county park's check-in report, which was obtained by cnn, says that there is a record of mrs. laundrie, brian's mother, registering for a waterfront site to go camping september 6th to 8th . so the dates don't exactly line up. but the question is why did they take it? this was happening in the window that gabby was missing. we know that he returned home as i said on september 1st and then we know she was reported missing on september 11th. so what happened in that window of time? did th

has said about where brian laundrie may be. days since he was last seen. does their behavior raise any read flags for you? >> well, erin, they are certainly not taking advantage of the hundreds of thousands of law enforcement officers across this country and the millions of citizens who could be out there helping find their son. it just doesn't make sense unless they don't care what happened to him. or they know very well where he is. >> so, you know, the -- let me -- let me on that point, right, it comes as a source close to the laundrie family tells us this crucial detail i just mentioned that brian left home, he did not have a cell phone or a wallet. now, what does that tell you about his intentions when he left? >> well, that sounds like a forensic countermeasure, to me. that he is trying to stay off the grid. no pinging for cell phones or gps. and -- and no atm or credit card hits it at -- at different locations. so, he is actually trying to stay off the grid. he must have cash or he is at a location where basically suppli
