>> reporter: good morning to you, laura.on 680 southbound just south of 580 just before stoneridge drive exit. if you look down there, you can see the coroner's office, they arrived here about ten minutes ago. the body is just beyond the coroner's office van in the middle of the interstate. the chp officer was telling us the coroner' office usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes to do the body removal to do their part of the investigation, so the officer was telling us the safe bet would probably be an eta of 7:00 when this road is reopened. as you can see, all four lanes of the southbound 680 are shut down but they just opened up the far left shoulder. it's a very wide shoulder, so they are letting some traffic go through, but it's a trickle. you can see just how bad this backup has been that started -- happened around 3:30. so you've got a backup that extends north on the southbound lane of 680 and of course this affects the westbound 580 traffic that's trying to get on here. there are other detours. as far as the person who

. >> and i'm laura garcia-cannon. this morning there's a new plan to bring down the high rate of suspensions for a group of students in the east bay school system. chrissie smith is live where the oakland school district approves a deal to reduce the number of african-american males who actually get kicked out of school. explain it. >> reporter: yeah, good morning to you. the school board unanimously approved this deal late last night, that after the u.s. department of education launched an investigation about four months ago and it specifically looked into oakland unified's zero tolerance policy when dealing with students. it found that it actually may be violating some students' civil rights. specifically right now african-american students make up about 32% of all students in oakland public schools, but they receive 63% of all the suspensions given out. in may the department of education's office of civil rights looked into whether the district treated black students more harshly than white students. the agreement

good morning. >> reporter: good morning, laura and marla.e space shuttle "endeavour" was the fifth and final shuttle for nasa. flew 25 missions, logged over 122 million miles. it's going to add a few more miles as it takes its final victory lap here in the bay area. the best place to see the shuttle is right here at nasa ames at moffett field. you can see there's already some families showing up waiting for the gates to open in about a half hour. now, you do not want to come here with your car unless you have a parking permit. if you don't have a parking permit, nasa ames is suggesting that you do take mass transit. of course here at moffett field, it's not the only place you'll be able to see the shuttle. it is expected to arrive roughly at around 9:30 this morning in the east bay. it will be traveling from the east bay. you'll be able to see it in walnut creek and from there will be traveling over the major science museums in the area, like lawrence hall of science in berkeley. then it will fly by the golden gate bridge, again a1500-foot f
