and the factor begins right now. >> laura: hi, i'm laura ingraham in for bill o'reilly. thanks for watching us tonight. should the g.o.p. risk offending social conservatives? that's the subject of this evening's talking points memo. today, on the "new york times" web page, tom ed sell, who has spent much of the last 30 years covering politics for the "the washington post" and the new republic, has some advice for the g.o.p. he draws upon some recent polling data to argue that, quote: the republican party can afford to marginalize christian right leaders because evangelical/social conservatives are not going to vote democratic. thus, republicans can, as he puts it, concede defeat in the culture war in the hopes of picking up some more socially liberal voters. mr. edsell might want to check with governor mike huckabee who knows a thing or two about evangelical voters. huckabee suggested that evangelicals will, quote, take a walk from the g.o.p. if the party ends up supporting gay marrie. he might also want to consider the 1996 presidential election when bill clinton carrie

and the factor begins right now. >> laura: hi, everyone. i'm laura ingraham in for bill o'reilly. thanks for watching us tonight. filibuster envy. that is the subject of this evening's talking points memo. it's been fascinating to see the reaction to senator rand paul's filibuster of the john brennan nomination. with the principled persuasive argument with the use of drones on american soil, he drew support from people across the political spectrum from jon stewart to mitch mcconnell, from the aclu, to ted cruise, his filibuster made for some strange bed follows. but, of course, not everybody was happy. is that snarkers calling paul's stance weird and crazy. but what's surprising is that two g.o.p. senators lindsey graham and john mccain launched their own drone strike against paul. >> we have done, i think, a disservice to a lot of americans by making them believe that somehow they are in danger from their government. they are not. i don't think what happened yesterday is helpful to the american people. what we saw yesterday is going to give ammunition to those critics who say th

. >> reporter: good morning, laura. that alleged incident happened right here at the kiddie academy. it is set to open its doors at 6:30. the big questions to be answered still, did the questions actually drink the spiked water? number two, did this happen on more than one occasion? morgan hill police say that 59-year-old deborah gratz admits she put somonex, the popular sleep aid, in several of the sippy cups. the tampered cups were taken away, they say, before the kids could drink from them. police are investigating both statements much deeper. gratz, who taught here for five years, looked after ten 1 to 2-year-olds. they did find some evidence at her home in hollizter, but wouldn't say what that evidence is. parents are shocked, concerned and horrified, especially one mother whose 2-year-old son suffers from epilepsy and he has been under gratz's care for several months. >> i would never picture anybody doing this to any kid. >> as a parent you have this trust which you not only drop off your kids, which is difficult

laura's law is not forced treatment. i don't know why mr. vega keeps using that word because laura's law is an upfront tool before somebody needs crisis. if they are proven to be a danger to themselves or someone else, a judge tries to get a treatment team and they try to talk with this person and figure out a way for them to stay out of the hospital. we have forced treatment, we have 51/50. my son has been through 51/50 numerous times. he's been slammed with this

. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura. it's becoming harder and harder to get a degree in four years, because it's expensive but also because students are having a harder time to get the courses they need to graduate. that's where online courses could fill in the gap. legislation will be introduced in the state senate that will allow public universities and colleges to give credit for online classes for student whose otherwise couldn't get in the class, including courses taught by private vendors and some would be low cost or free. this is not without debate. some faculty members say these courses aren't properly vetted and are just being used as a quick fix after budget cuts. according to darryl steinberg, each had an average of 7,000 students on waiting list at the 112 community colleges and at the 20 state campuses only 16% graduate within four years. he wants them to promise no student would be denied the right to advance through their education because they couldn't get their class. reporting live in san francisco, ch
