. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. fire crews are on the scene of a scrap metal fire burning at sims metal management in redwood city. it's on seaport boulevard. >> today in the bay's chase cain arrived on the scene. what's it looking like to you? >> reporter: we have a lot of smoke but redwood city fire said they were able to contain this to a one-alarm fire. you may remember this is the exact same facility that caught on fire about a month ago. the fire broke out around 1:00 a.m., but unlike last time, which was a pile of junk cars that caught on fire while being crushed, this is a pile of appliances that caught on fire. redwood city fire says they started getting 911 calls about an explosion and flames, and it was appliances that exploded. so far, redwood city says the sims metal facility, their industrial sprinkler system they have on site has been working to put the fire out, along with their trucks. and they have called in some crews from a couple neighboring areas to help make sure this fire does not spread and

"today in the bay's" chase cain on the scene. what can you tell us? >> reporter: terry, this is now a two-alarm fire and fire officials are asking people if they're anywhere in the vicinity of redwood city to stay inside with their doors and windows closed. this is not a shelter in place order. they're just asking you to take precautions, because obviously, we're talking about a lot of smoke that has been pouring into the air for going on four hours now. the sims metal facility recycles, essentially, just old junk metal from cars to appliances. and the fire officials say it was a pile of appliances that exploded around 1:00 a.m. and caught fire. that is what has been burning ever since. as we mentioned, a two-alarm fire. they have brought in help from nearby fire departments to get this under control, try and put the fire out.

back to you, terry and laura. >> thanks very much. breaking news out of lebanon, a powerful car bomb rocked a business district of beirut killing five people including an american. also among the dead is the former lebanese ambassador to the united states. more than 70 people are injured. the blast sent smoke billowing in the commercial district as you can see. the army is cordoning off the area. lebanon has seen a wave of bombings as tensions rise over syria's civil war. that's because sunni and shiite communities in lebanon support opposite sides of the war. >> new details around the 13-year-old oakland teen on life support. the family of jahi mcmath wants to move the girl out of children's hospital oakland. the family found another bay area facility willing to care for jahi. the family asked the hospital to perform surgery so a feeding tube can be inserted if jahi were moved. the hospital said no. the family attorney says he will ask an outside doctor to help in the case may end up back in court. >> if children tries to block that

i'm laura garcia cannon. we're learning more about the massive fire that severely burned two men overnight. the men were pulled out of their home on baker street between full ham and mcalister street in san francisco. that's where chase cain is joining us live this morning. we understand you just talked to neighbors and friends. >> laura, i did, and they tell us that these two men are still in very bad case. they are in intense i care this morning after being rushed to the hospital last night in critical condition according to firefighters. at one point there were 115 san francisco firefighters out here. you can see the victorian home is very los to the homes next door, and even though you can't really tell from the front, there is significant damage to the back of this house. >> reporter: firefighters kept watch all night making sure flames didn't spark up again in this home on baker street after an intense fire erupted just before 9:00 last night trapping the homeowners inside. >> they're the sweetest. rapi

. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. that is out of san jose where a big rig has crashed and landed on construction equipment. it's happening on southbound interstate 880 at the stevens creek boulevard off ramp. it's close to valley fair mall. bob redell is live at the scene. what does it look like out there? >> reporter: we're trying to figure out how much impact this is going to have on the morning commute. here is is the big rig, a driver fell asleep heading south on 880 this morning, around quarter to 3:00. and what happened instead of continuing south on 880 he diverted landing in this construction area. the problem is there's a couple problems, one of some of the fuel leaked so they need to clean that up. two, some of the axles have come off the truck. if you look to the left they have a wrecker out here. one is off. that's going to complicate the effort. chp telling us they might have this removed in probably around two hours, looking at the 6:00 hour. again, that is during the commute but this is not on 880, it's
