fox 5's laura evans is covering the story. >> the accident happened this afternoon at the shady grove railyard. metro had been criticized for its lack of safety culture following the red line crash in 2009 but it had made improving safety a priority. how the accident happened today is unclear. the worker was inside what's known as the wash building at the rail yard just outside the shady grove station. according to emergency officials, the train was going into the building when it hit the worker pinning him beneath the wheel assembly. >> it was an extensive extrication which took approximately 60 minutes. >> reporter: getting him out was complicated. the trains can weigh up to 80,000 pounds and sometimes just lifting the train can cause other problems. >> if we lift the train in a certain way, is that going to cause an adverse reaction? there's many factors we have to look into. when we put our folks underneath the train, they evaluate that. it's kind of like a blink. it just happens one after another. >> reporter: a special team of doctors and nurses was brought in because of the sev

fox 5's laura evans is following this one from the newsroom. >> 24-year-old dania suarez recounted herht in cartagena with a u.s. secret service agent to spanish radio station w radio, a dispute between suarez and the agent over payment starting this whole investigation. suarez said the agent didn't seem to care about the trouble he could get into. translator: dana suarez with choice words to describe a secret service agent involved in an embarrassing sex scandal in colombia calling them idiots and fools for letting it happen. suarez discussed the indent for the first time in an exclusive interview with the spanish radio station. she says the agents were drinking alcohol like it was water and describes what she talked about with an agent before heading up to his hotel room. translator: you have to give me $800. that's the little gift i want and he told me oh, okay, baby. let's go. let's go to the hotel. >> reporter: suarez said the agent fell asleep when they got to the room leaving his luggage and files out in the open. she said if she were a spy, she could have gotten to it easily. w

i'm laura evans. >> i'm shawn yancy. two teenagers were hit, one an innocent bystander. tonight a suspect is in custody. fox 5's maureen umeh is working the story for us. >> police say one of the victims, a 16-year-old boy, was the intended target of the shooting they say was sparked by an ongoing dispute. it happened just after 2:30 friday afternoon just outside the tunnel of the bustling rockville metro station. police say gunshots rang out and when it was over, two people had been hit, a 16-year- old boy shot at least once and an 18-year-old woman grazed by another round. police say the woman was an innocent bystander. >> the shooter and primary victim aren in to one another. this is not a strange-based event. >> as i said to the policeman here guns? and he said they're everywhere, but this is so peaceful. that's why it's kind of like not here. >> reporter: police say both victims suffered nonlife threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. less than 10 minutes after the shooting police swarmed a nearby shell gas station and took a suspect into

laura evans has his story this morning. >> somebody walks somebody home from here all the time or from wherever else, just a gentleman thing to do. >> reporter: that is what mike boone offered to do for a woman leaving trusty's bar a popular hill east watering hole. it turned out to be a simple matter of wrong place, wrong time. >> we got about a block from here and somebody jumped out of the bushes and tried to steal her purse and i refused to allow that to happen. >> reporter: boone says the fight lasted probably less than a minute. he doesn't remember much, just heard the screaming. >> when the girl started screaming, i realized i had been stabbed multiple times. within a few seconds, i eventually just collapsed on to the ground. and that is about all i remember until i woke up in the hospital the next day. >> reporter: pictures show the multiple stab wound. boone suffered a collapsed lung. he was hospital eyed for four days and still face a long recovery. >> could be anywhere from $20,000 to $100,000 in medical bills. >> a fundraiser is being held tonight at 7:00 at trusty's which

fox 5's laura evans joins us now with the details. >> corporal steven troyano, an 11 1/2 year veteran with the arlington county police department said his job always involves something unexpected. this if it's the bill. troyano was an emt in college 20 years ago but he says he's not sure his training came into play here. his focus last night was about keeping everyone calm. it was here on columbia pike in the middle of rush hour traffic that a baby girl was born wednesday night. corporal steven troyano had pulled over a driver who wasn't wearing his seatbelt when another driver ran up frantically asking for help saying her sister was in labor and they weren't going to make it to the hospital. >> she was giving birth. the top of the head was already crowning, so i called for paramedics, but it was pretty clear they weren't going to make it in time. so we got the mother positioned as comfortably as possible, tried to keep everything stable, had the sister grab some towels and try to keep everybody calm and direct the mother best i could and out came the baby. >> reporter: as traffic fle
