"today in the bay's" christie smith live at the hospital. she has more details on the man the police are looking for. good morning. >>> good morning, jon. another strange twist in this case that's already very unusual. investigators think that the man who reported seeing a woman laying in a stairwell here at sf general may have had on a u.c.s.f. name tag. they don't know a whole lot else about him. 57-year-old lynn spaulding was found in a locked stairwell at s.f. general hospital here in san francisco on october 8th, three weeks after she banished from her room. she was here being treated for a bladder infection at the time. now, four days before she was discovered, a man told a hospital supervisor that he saw a woman in a stairwell. apparently, that supervisor looked but did not see anything. t

. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. we begin with a story you'll only see on nbc bay area. court proceedings begin today for one of six teens charged with killing an off-duty paramedic. now almost seven months after quinn boyers' murder his widow is speaking publicly. bob joins us where the couple worked together at an ambulance company. good morning, bob. >> reporter: yes. liz boyer and her husband quinn worked as paramedics. today one of the teens accused in her husband's murder will have a preliminary hearing. on april 2, while he was off duty helping his father with a doctor's appointment in oakland quinn boyer, 34, was shot in the head during an attempted carjacking. his wife who met up with him that day knew from the git-go it was bad. that's what she was telling us. she, too, is a paramedic. two days later her husband was taken off life support. what liz boyer finds not only tragic but in her words ironic is that it is a group of boys, ages 13 to 16 years of age, who are charged in her husband's death. it's ironic because quinn, her husband, was very much interested

i'm marla tallez in for laura garcia cannon. new details about a deadly shooting involving two sheriff deputies yesterday afternoon. we are now learning the suspect, both sheriff deputies shot may have been a 13-year-old boy carrying a replica gun. bob redell is in the newsroom with what we are learning. >> reporter: according to the samoa county sheriff's office, deputies thought that this gun was the real deal, thought it was an assault rifle, did not realize until after the fact it was a replica. not clear whether it shot bebes. the person carrying it was according to the santa rosa. this is in a field in santa rosa. the sheriff's office said the deputies called for backup and repeatedly asked the subject to drop the gun. when he refused, they shot him several times, handcuffed him, began first aid, called paramedics who declared lopez dead on the scene. deputies eventually realized his gun was a replica. they also found a plastic handgun in his waistband. they do not identify him but only i.d. him as a male subject. his fath

i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> good morning. i'm marla tellez in for jon today.ppening now, snow is falling in the sierra even though it is only october. take a look from the caltrans camera. you can see all of that snow coating the area. there is the first dusting of the season. brian hickey is up in the sierra with a look for us. >> reporter: interstate 80 where drivers are required to chain up here in the sierra. you can see the roadway, that is interstate 80 there covered in a pretty good dusting of snow though the plows have been coming through and scraping that down every 20 to 30 minutes. the snow continuing to come down here, light fluffy flakes here at kingvale. around the 4500 foot level just below blue canyon ond the my yak area. at one point chains were down to my yak. they moved them up. let me show you how much snow we have a. good four to five inches, fluffy powder this morning. gives you an indication of how cold it is here in the sierra. a look at some of the web cameras, sugar bowl's web camera, there is a solid foot of snow on the park benches

i'm marla tellez in for laura garcia-cannon. >> and i'm jon kelley. good morning. thanks for joining us as always. we can tell you protesters are set to be outside a b.a.r.t. meeting calling for b.a.r.t. managers and bosses to be criminally charged in the death of two workers. we have video from yesterday of the ntsb's re-enactment of the train crash that killed two b.a.r.t. workers this past weekend. agents placed mannequins on a stretch of track, trying to figure out why the workers didn't move when they heard the train coming, or, why one of them possibly was not acting as the lookout as required. despite today's protests the trains should be running on schedule. >> an update breaking news in the east bay, take a look at this video. fire investigators are trying to pinpoint the cause of this massive fire at an industrial park in concord overnight. you can see several cars, what appears to be a trailer completely engulfed in flames. propane tanks were stored on the site. the building is mostly made of metal and as of now there are no reports of injuries. >> this

. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon, we're following breaking news out of taiwan where just in the past hour a 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck the island nation. the usga said it was centered along the east coast city of hualian south of taipei. the damage is minimal. a tsunami warning also has not been issued. >> right now i want to get you updated on a story in the east bay. four people are recovering after being attacked by dogs in antioch. this morning neighbors on larkspur drive near hillcrest park are still on edge hours after this attack. that's where "today in the bay" christie smith joins us live. some of the neighbors are saying they are thankful the attack happened before trick-or-treaters going house to house for halloween. >> that's right. we did hear from a neighbor look, as bad as this dog attack was it's a good thing it's not happening tonight when kids are trick-or-treating. four people are recovering after a vicious dog attack. they were all bitten including three people who tried to help a man who was walking in the open space area where his two dogs, when two other dogs c
