i am laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington. we will get to the breaking news in a moment, but first let's get to the red flag warning affecting the bay area. how is it shaping up for us? >> it's still windy out there, and we have seen higher wind gusts in some of the upper elevations especially, but where we have the high fire danger, this started yesterday evening and continues through 5:00 tomorrow evening, as some of the gusts will continue to stay high. we have extremely low humidity as well as dry vegetation due to the ongoing drought. take a look at the wind advisory for the areas also not included in the red flag warning. we will see some of the gusty winds that will be about 15 to 30 miles per hour. we are going to see that today. already gusty winds and the northerly winds continue to pick up for the areas in bright purple. that's where the highest wind gusts will be. this is lunchtime, so as you are making plans to head out for the day, if you are going to be out there during the afternoon, and especially this evening

. >> i'm laura garcia. let's check in with meteorologist kari hall tracking a little bit of a cooldown to the start of our day. >> yes. there is a lot of changes headed our way as we're waking up this morning. don't be surprised if you have to turn on the windshield wipers a bit. we have this cold front sweeping through bringing in a lot of clouds and moisture. we're starting out with a cool morning. this is where we're headed, up to 70 degrees. it will be clearing out today and we'll see temperatures in spots like martinez in the 60s. i'll have more coming up in a few minutes. >>> it could happen as soon as today. bay area officials are expected to announce criteria for ending mask mandates. most of the bay area still requires masks indoors with the exception of solano county, who never issued a mask mandate. this sounds like pretty exciting news for a lot of people out there. >> reporter: for months that mask has become a part of you. when you left the house, the mask typically left the house with you. bu

i am laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington.ook at the morning commute coming up in just a bit, but first we have to start out with meteorologist, kari hall, and she has a closer look at the red flag warning. >> we are seeing high wind gusts especially in some of the higher elevations. this is when we have the highest fire danger through tomorrow evening with the winds gusting possibly up to about 60 miles per hour. we know the vegetation is extremely dry and the humidity is going to be very low, even in the valleys looking at wind advisories, so this includes the rest of the bay area that are not in that red flag warning as winds gusts will 15 to 30 miles per hour. we are now under the red flag warning as the humidity levels continue to drop and some of the wind gusts will frequently hit 25 miles per hour or higher, and both of these happening at the same time. at least the temperatures staying very mild with the fire danger continuing today, and we are mostly looking at 60s and 70s across the bay area. we'll talk more about th

i am laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington. we'll get an update on traffic with mike, but first we'll look at the forecast can kari hall. >> as our temperatures continue to go down we'll have showers very close to the bay area. take a look at this system passing by. you can see the long line of clouds stretching into the north bay. we will get a couple rounds of cooler temperatures as a couple cold fronts move through. our air quality, still moderate. once again, this is going to continue to clear out as the cooler air moves in. we'll talk more about that coming up. >>> kari, we have the bay bridge toll plaza, there were flashing lights and now it's cleared. i don't know what the deal was. the toll plaza itself is cleared. we have another issue getting across the bridge because there are lanes blocked because of construction crews. no crashes, but typically there's a crew from the other side. another incident just got marked on the map, and that means we will bring that to you, of course, coming up. no surprises out of the alta
