. >> i am laura garcia. we will get a look at the forecast this morning, but mike is following breaking news. big problems out there. >> contra costa, 680 is a nightmare. this is the worst part of my job when i report somebody was killed on the roadway. it happened just before 4:30 this morning. still closed is most of 680. this is a caltrans camera showing you right around monument. you look at the traffic. they did reopen two lanes early on in the incident but the coroner is still not on scene and the coroner must arrive to complete the investigation, and then they can get permission to clear the lanes. the better news is that kirker pass road is a good alternate. the bay bridge toll plaza just had metering lights turned on. >>> we have freeze warnings in effect for the areas in purple and parts of the north bay, and also a freeze watch for other areas. we have already seen temperatures much colder than the past few mornings, and even well below freezing for santa rosa right now. 29 in fairfield. it's 32 i

. >> i'm laura garcia. we're going to check the commute, but the temperatures, we need them to pick up. it's a cold start. >> another cold start. we've had a lot of mornings starting out in the mid to upper 30s and it does continue. take a look at some of these numbers. in santa rosa we are freezing, 32 degrees. that's the coldest spot on this map with the temperature now at 34 in fairfield, 43 in hayward. we're seeing temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s down into the south bay as well. as you're getting ready for work in fremont, you do need the layers for the start of the day, but the afternoon is going to shape up to be nice. low 60s for early in the afternoon. we are watching a crash, mike. what's the update? >> highway 4 is slow coming into concord. there's a little update, first there was one crash, now there are two separate locations. for chicago highway, the split to 242 and highway 4, so both spots are showing a distraction and slowing coming into the area. they need a number of tow trucks.

"today in the bay's" bob redell joins us live from the scene. i know you've been out there since right after this broke. what is the latest, bob? >> reporter: you can see behind me, two investigators actually just went inside the home with redwood city fire department. they're trying to figure out what caused this fire. you can see the insulation from the attic that was pulled out. the elderly man who lived here is in the hospital being treated for life-threatening burns and possible smoke inhalation. he lived here with four other people at this house, which is actually an eldercare home. it's located on cypress street, a neighborhood not far from highway 84 and the el camino real. this fire started around 3:00. the fire department had to call for a second alarm, for extra help. the two caregivers and two other elderly people did get out okay, but when th

i'm laura garcia. >> i'm marcus washington.t when we were getting used to clear skies, the sun is out, take a look at what's happening now. that rain coming down in the bay area this morning. meteorologist kari hall is here and just how long are we looking at with this rain? >> it will be mostly throughout the morning and then taper off. there's not going to be a lot of sunshine today. if you'll be stepping out the door within the next hour or so, you'll have to deal with some bouts of heavy rain that's really been hitting san francisco, parts of the peninsula and toward the east bay, as we are seeing a lot of yellows on stormranger, indicating heavier rain. for peninsula, we've seen waves coming through. san mateo is really getting heavy rain now. it's a lot lighter for san jose. then it picks up as you head down to morgan hill and gilroy, as the rain moves over the santa cruz mountains. a wide view shows we are going to see this system coming in, a then a brief break before another one comes in right behind that. we know you

i am laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington. >>> another woman claims she is sexually assaulted at a massage parlor on the peninsula. >> we have more from outside superior court in redwood city where the woman and her attorney just spoke. what did they have to say. >> reporter: earlier this morning a woman and her attorney filed this lawsuit against the massage and relocation in burlingame, alleging that one of their male employees sexually assaulted her. within the past hour jane epstein joined her attorney bobby thompson outside the courthouse to speak publicly about what happened. she said that back in may of 2017 she went to the massage envy location in burlingame for a massage not even considering that anything sexual was a possibility. the lawsuit claims the burling game massage envy knew that the male employee was a sexual predator that had sexually assaulted another woman in 2013 but did not report him to police, nor did they fire him according to the lawsuit. they allege they allowed him to go to a dark, closed room with epstein where she said she was sexually assaulted. her

i am laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington. that fire started this morning, destroying one home and damaging two others badly. look here from nbc bay area's sky ranger. he can to the home in the middle. that is the home destroyed . the two homes that set on its side, also badly damaged. firefighters tackling the roof from on the ground and on top of the roof. >> it happened at 22nd avenue. and as the fire quickly spread, it also went into two other homes in that area. the fire turned quickly into a three alarm fire. multiple units were on the scene. they had to clear out the neighborhood to make sure that people who were in the threat, in the way of the fire, were quickly evacuated. >> now, this is a picture of the home. we have video from that scene. the home in the middle, destroyed by that fire, collapsed while firefighters were on the scene. tried to get control of that fire. one person sent to the hospital . the two other homes, badly damaged. firefighters still on the scene, trying to keep things in check. they say, they
