i'm laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington. what first, as this most recent storm is moving across the bay area, our storm ranger is sitting atop san bruno mountain scanning the skies. this is the bay area's only mobile doppler radar, helping bring you the most accurate forecast. this storm comes following last week's storm, which caused damage in the north bay. much of that area is still saturated this morning. let's head over to meteorologist kari hall this morning. she's monitoring the rain, and we've got a flood advisory. yes. so they issued the flood advisory out way ahead of the storm. and so that means that we're watching out for that possibility of street flooding, as well as rising creeks and streams. and then we can see this large storm system as it is moving directly into the bay area. this is the center of low pressure that's driving all of this rain with this atmospheric river into our area. and then once we get to this part of the storm that's directly over us, then it becomes more scattered, but also with more en

i'm laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington. let's get a look at that forecast for you this morning. meteorologist kari hall is tracking the rain that we've been seeing off and on throughout the weekend. continuing today. it continues today for areas farther to the north, and then eventually begins to wave back to the south, as this atmospheric river has been going up and down the coast. and as expected over the weekend, the north bay took the brunt of the storm and all of the rainfall. but by this evening we'll see all of the bay area getting in on to push backy area later on today. and some of the heavier rainfall may raise some issues about flooding, especially some street flooding. and in the north bay, some of the creeks, rivers and streams that have been rising with all of this wet weather. so i'll be tracking the impacts. we'll talk more about it coming up. mike, you are looking at a crash in san jose right over here, northbound 101. as you're coming up, that's your commute direction. typically we see slowing north of the

i'm marcus washington and i'm laura garcia. we do begin with breaking news. the wet weather hitting parts of the bay area, causing traffic trouble in the north bay. a rockslide and downed tree blocking three right lanes of highway 101. it all happened about 7:00 last night near the rodeo avenue onramp. this is a live look at the scene right now. we called the chp overnight. they told us they hope to have the highway fully reopened by 8:00 this morning. mike inouye tracking the road conditions out there. yeah, clearly you saw only one lane heading south. let me get you located here. notice the map has less green and no blue this morning. green means it will be slick, potentially where you're driving it over here. we saw the aftermath, though, after the rain soaked the hills. hillside mudslides, rock slides and some branches down. they have to get through those with chainsaws. south 101 through sausalito. only one lane open. potentially another three hours. we'll continue to track the progress as jesse's out there. our photographer. meanwhile, over in the east

i'm kris sanchez, i'm in for laura garcia, and i'm marcus washington. time to get you started with this new work week coming off of a busy weekend across the bay area. kari hall tracking what we all can expect out there. kari walking out the door today, i was like, oh, it's not too bad. it's not too cold out there. and we're starting out with a lot of clouds and even some patchy fog. as we go into the afternoon, it becomes mostly sunny and we will have some gradually warming temperatures, but then midweek, a slight chance of showers coming in. after that, we'll see temperatures warming up and we'll be headed toward a spring like weekend. but as we are feeling around the bay area, a wide range in temperatures really just depending on where you are, a lot of upper 40s and low 50s, but there are some cold spots, like danville starting out at 39 degrees compared that to the 52 in hayward and 47 that we're seeing in san jose. but we'll close that gap, and we'll all have temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s for later on this afternoon, as we get a lot of

i'm laura garcia. and i'm kris sanchez. i'm in for marcus washington. we begin with that microclimate weather alert because as we mentioned, there is more rain rolling in this morning, even as the soil in some neighborhoods is completely saturated already. tuesday's storm triggered a mudslide which slammed into one north bay home that is now red tagged. this is in santa rosa's deer trail neighborhood, which is under evacuation warnings now. we spoke with the owner of that red tagged home, and he said his wife was at home when she called him at work to say she was stuck. it was difficult to understand what she was saying and she was obviously panicking. she didn't know if she could get out and but. it was just so scary. i mean, you can hear how scary in his voice, he says. first responders rescued both his wife and his daughter. they are both okay, but the home is going to have to be torn down and listen to this. he said this home is a rebuild from the home that they lost in the 2017 fire storm. meteorologist kari hall is keeping tabs on the latest condi

i'm mars washington, and i'm laura garcia. want to show you new video that's just into our newsroom from the east bay. westbound 580, in oakland. as cars were driving through that flooded roadway. this is why you have to slow down. this was taken about 4:00 this morning. now, in the north bay, there are new flood watches and landslide warnings in effect right now. napa county sheriff issuing a flood watch for people living in the oak circle area. now, evacuation orders remain in effect for several addresses in a santa rosa neighborhood. people are telling everyone in that area to be ready to evacuate in a moment's notice and a warning. drivers need to be aware that there are flooded roads there. yeah, there are a lot of pockets of flooding everywhere. let's get to meteorologist kari hall this morning. she's been monitoring this microclimate weather alert. and we know that in the north bay, they've already gotten all of their yearly rainfall before we had this storm. and so any additional rainfall would cause the water levels a

laura garcia is off this midday. we do begin with that breaking news in the east bay. and w we can now confirm that one person is dead following an officer involved shooting in concord. now, nbc bay area's bob redell live for us there from the scene. and, bob, i know you just spoke with the da's office. what are they saying? well, we also just got a new statement with concord police, who now tell us that an officer shot and killed a man who was stabbing a family member here at the family home on the drive not far from the intersection with willow pass road. you can see detectives here with concord police. they're out here as part of this investigation in that home in question is behind them, behind that white pickup truck. that's the home that they've been focusing on here in concord. the call came in around 140 this morning. police say when they arrived, they found an adult male who we believe was the son, using a knife and actively stabbing another man who we believe was his father. the son died here at the scene. according to police, the father was taken to the hosp

i'm laura garcia. here's a look at our top stories.injured after a house fire in berkeley. it started a little before 5 a.m. along cedar street near san pablo avenue. firefighters gave us a photo of the scene. the chief says his team had to enter through one window to rescue someone trapped inside. two others, also inside the home, are being treated at the hospital. their conditions are not yet known. and right now, we still don't know the cause of the fire. on bob redell here in martinez, where contra costa health is keeping its health advisory in effect after this weekend's fire at the martinez refining company behind me. contra costa health is advising people with respiratory sensitivity who live in martinez, clyde and parts of pacheco to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors closed. the fire broke out around 2:00 this past saturday afternoon. there was a shelter in place for people who live around the refinery, which was eventually lifted. let's get a look at our forecast. rain in the works. kari. yeah, we're starting out w
