i'm laura garcia-cannon. will get to our microclimate weather alert in just a moment. first breaking news in sydney, australia. these images captured just moments ago. this is the scene outside the coffee shop where hostages are being held. we don't have a lot of information about what just happened. it's a very active scene. we presume those were hostages being held inside the coffee shop that were running out. we've also seen one woman carried out who appeared to be injured. this is that same area where several hostages escaped earlier today. of course we'll update you when we get more information. we are expecting a very special report from nbc news coming up in just minutes at 7:30. in the meantime, a new round of rain rolling through the bay area brought down a bag area this morning in alamo, happened on stone valley road. for a time they had effectively cut off the road for people who live above where that tree went down. in the same area this morning, a tree went off the road and took out a power pole.
